I believe there will be a collective forum gasp, but, why that much excitement over a job fair?
***huh***
It's a great thing to have, because you don't have to pound the pavement . All the employers are gathered together. I've just had friends who were frustrated after attending one. So there's where my confusion is.

Did you have success at one before and that's why you feel like maybe it's a sign? I thought for sure you had a job! !!tongue!! Ya' suckered me in sister! :)

So? Why that much excitement over a job fair?

I promise I'm not trying to be the official wet blanket of 2004, but I'm missing something big.

Because she hasn't had one in her area in a long time, and any opportunity that comes a knocking, you got to be excited about.

Beauty, this is the first job fair I have heard of in several months. As I already said, there haven't been any this year. And job fairs have always been excellent opportunities to find work. If this is the first one they've had in several months, then don't you think that's a good sign?

I know that I shouldn't count my chickens before they hatch, but what I don't understand is why you don't think that an opportunity to find work should not be exciting. This is by far the strongest leads any unemployed person can hope for. It is pretty much a gurantee that you'll find work.

Did you ever stop to think that if I'm this excited over a job fair, then perhaps I have legitemate reason? Why are you trying to squelch my enthusiasm? :?

I get the impression, Beauty, that Lorna is more press-the-flesh than pound-the-pavement. For all my chances at a job fair, I might as well be looking to work as Hell's Zamboni driver, but my gut feeling is that Lorna's social skills will play much better than mine would in such a venue.

Good luck Lorna, keep us posted on how it goes.

I just found out that the contract for my project was not renewed, which means if they cannot rotate us to other projects, then we are layed off. The company(call center) I work for is great because it is very employee focused. I mean from the managers(who may be out of a job themselves) are working hard to get who they can rotated to the classes that they are offering on Resume Writing, they are working hard to help the 60-75 people that have just effectively lost their jobs. I have high hopes that I can be rotated to another project but if not, there is always other options. I could go back to where I worked before(Meijer, a grocery chain) but I would not be making near the $$ I made when I left. There are also other call centers, since I now have almost 2yrs experience. Worst case senario, I have a friend that just came back from Iraq who informed me that I could make 160G/yr setting up networks and PCs. BUT THAT IS A WCS.

Lorna,

I can certainly understand your excitement about numerous employers looking for workers in one place at the same time. Good luck!

No Lorna, as you see in every other thread of support for you I'm the first to jump in and be negative. #-o

I asked a question. You answered the question. If that question offended you then I do apologize and ask for your forgiveness.

Lorna,

Keep that enthusiasm and that attitude. Someone will have to be turned on by you and want you on their team. Don't reject a strange opportunity out right. Consider the possibilities.

I am thinking of you, like all the rest of your friends,
Kersten
