Trying wigs

Hi Ladies,

I've been wanting to get back to a T-friendly wig shop in my area to see what they had in stock. The other day, I got my nerve up and decided to go. I got in my car and decided to put on a little make up. I put on some pink lip gloss and some blush. I went to the shop and was met by a young girl that I had not seen before so the shyness came back. I told her I was just looking. I was looking around and she came up and asked me if I saw anything that caught my eye. I asked about a certain style and she surprised my by matter of factly asking if I would like to try it on! She acted as if it was no big deal. What a sweetheart! I jumped at the chance. When I looked in the mirror I was quite surprised by my appearance. I thought that I had only put on a little make up but I had applied it much heavier than I thought. The good thing was it was much easier to see the effect of the wig with make up on. I tried on another style and found that I like the medium long straight hair style best for now but they did not have the color I wanted so I will have to keep looking. I thanked her for her help and she said that she would see me next time.

Sounded like you had fun. I have been wondering about wig shopping for a little while now, since my wife seems more open to the idea of me dressing in public. Although there are nice wigs online, I would have no idea as to what color would suit by complextion, nor on how to don and fit the wig properly.

My wife suprised me the other day while in a costume shop, as I was looking at long striaght dark haired wigs, she was more interested in the shorter blonde curly wigs for me. My hair is naturally brown, well more grey now, been greying since I was 19.

Anyway, are there problems for CDs in most wig shops? Should one call first? I would think that wig retailers would be happy for a sale no matter the gender.

Donna,

The way that I found out that this particular shop was T-friendly was I gound a reference to them on the local Tri-ess web site in the shopping area. I think that it would be a good idea to call first to see what their reaction would be. IMO you can expect to pay more at a shop than you will on line. The first time that I visited their shop, I purchased a wig that was on clearance, which was all that I could afford.

I can understand about style and color in a wig. I have purchased 2 on e-bay, the wife just hates my dark black curly one as she saids it doesn't fit my age?? or me in general. But she loves the light brown shoulder lengh one and saids thats much better
