How much holiday specific clothing do you have?

Hi all,

I'm curious about how many items of clothing that have decorations (embroidery, etc.) that are so specific for certain holidays that they would seem out of place when worn outside of that holiday time?

My wife has only 2 Christmas tops and both were gifts from friends. One is white and has large bold colored round Christmas ornaments with a black and white cat around each one. The other is a white mock turtleneck with a candy cane embroidered in red on the collar.

She has several tops that have non-Chistmas specific winter scenes, and there are a lot of opportunities to wear them in the Buffalo, NY area.

What are your views and inventory of holiday/short season specific clothing?

Hi all,

There haven't been any replies yet, so I thought I would expand this thread to include jewelry. My wife has several pairs of inexpensive pierced Christmas earrings and last year she bought me a pair of clip earrings.

In addition, she does have a Christmas theme dress, a long black one with a small red and green print of holly berries.

I started this thread trying to be all-inclusive for holidays that are outside of my Protestant background.

My wife has some holiday clothing like yours.

I got a black velvet skirt awhile back - I always associate them with the holidays.

Thank you for being the first to both respond to this thread and ask me about my avatar.

I don't have a velvet dress/skirt yet, but that's something I classify with cold weather occasions.

Yes, that avatar is me as (my wife just dubbed that character portrayal) Jade the Maid. It came from my first photo session yesterday. I hope it didn't scare you or make you ill

My wife has items (tops, socks) for Halloween and for Christmas, others for anytime in the fall. Those are generally the periods that clothes are sold with motifs to match the time of year, especially at craft shows.

I don't have anything for a particular time of year.

The closest I have to anything holiday related would be a red top.

But I also have a Santa hat & a pair of green holiday-ornament-shaped earrings that actually light up!

Yes, nice avatar! Good to see "you." Jade the maid, eh? We should all have such help available!

Just today I looked at some holiday sweaters. They seem gaudy to me, but there's no question it's a femme-only item, and I'm probably going to buy one. Guys do not have any holiday wear that I can think of, at all. I never did.

It was only two years ago that I became aware that women wore holiday clothing. I was dressed up (as a man) to attend a Christmas recital, and I was unhappy that I couldn't go as Anita that night. So I was going to see what the women were wearing to this event, so I'd be prepared next time if I did go enfemme.

That's when I noticed sweaters with little reindeer on them, or bells with holly pinned to women's blouses. I'd been seeing things like this for years, but it just didn't register before that night. Oh, women wear holiday clothing! Men don't! None of my girlfriends ever wore this kind of thing, just as they never wore slips and seldom wore dresses.

So I'm going to get a pine-tree and candy-cane sweater soon, and wear it to my facilitator gig on Christmas eve.

I hope you will post a picture of yourself in your Christmas sweater after you get it.

I don't know if you watch QVC at all, but Quacker Factory sells a lot of clothing with themes for various holidays including Christmas. When they run Quacker Factory shows sometimes they have an audience and I think it's one of the more entertaining shows on TV - Jeanne Bice, the Head Quacker is a real character and the clothes are cute.

I have no connection with QVC or any of their vendors. I haven't bought any Quacker Factory clothing (not yet anyway - maybe cheapskate Jadeanne will find some in her size at a thrift store someday). I just enjoy the show once in a while.

I wear exactly the same clothing no matter what time of year it is. Except All Hallows. Then I wear the same things, only more so.

Hi all,

I just realized that I missed some holiday specific items that men can wear.

For the people who wear coat and tie, there are holiday neckties, tie clasps, and lapel pins. I generally wear a coat and tie for church and have a couple of Christmas lapel pins and a tie with toy trains printed on it.

An additional item for women I may have overlooked is the scarf.

Who else has some of these things or can add other items?

I don't have any holiday specific clothing seeing as how I'm still new to this, but there is a lovely Christmas Marabou dress in the Fredericks of Hollywood catalog that I wouldn't mind having. Pair that up with some white thigh-highs and a cute Santa hat and I'm all set.
