Help With Makeup

Post by Mrs. Missy(SO) »

Hi All,

I would like to have a makeup demonstration done on me while Missy watches and takes notes (unobtrusively!). I'm really a novice when it comes to makeup -- I normally don't wear any. I've seen this done in the department stores, and that's where we were planning to go. Have any of you had this done? If so, can you give me some advice on how to proceed, what questions to ask, how much does it cost, what's normally expected, who to go to, etc.

Thanks a bunch!

Hugs,

You can go to any high end dept store and make an appt for a makeover, it is usually free and the techs are very friendly. They will try and sell you every product under the sun so be warned. you are not obligated to purchase anything, but once you see how great you look and feel you will want some of it. But in this situation you are sitting in the open with everyone walking by and not a scrap of privacy.

Now you could also call a Mary Kay consultant and get a free, private consultation, she may even be open to letting your husband have one too!
Also another place for a more private makeover is Merle Norman, look in your yellow pages for one

Oops! The previous post was from me (but I guess you all figured that out). Geez, I really thought I was logged in! Sorry for any confusion!

Hi Mrs Missy(SO),

You know, there are a lot of great sites out there that really help to learn this stuff. I learned about what colors I should be using, how to apply eyeliner for my eye shape and location on my face. How to bring out your best features. Check out the links thread in Area 51.

Here is what I looked like before I read anything.

Then after some reading I looked like this.

And after some practice, I look like this now

A lot of it is just learing what looks good on you. I am very happy about how I look now. I have not retouched those pictures in anyway. That is how I look.

Good Luck.

Love always,
Elizabeth

Hi Elizabeth,

You have done a wonderful job with learning on your own how to apply makeup! You have some lovely pictures! I'm so inspired!

Thanks for directing me to those valuable links. I went to the Lancome website and that sure was helpful. When I get a few more minutes, I'll cruise some more links.

Thanks a bunch!

Hugs,
