This is an interesting topic.. thanks for starting it Josie.... I looked at the website (your's I assume) that you provided the link for... It is impressive, very.
To All Members....
Is that what we need for this forum? I FULLY admit that this forum has been non-changing for awhile now and the Chat thing is worthless.... should we upgrade?
If we think so, I can go out and hire a website design service and upgrade to a Pay forum software with more bells and whistles, and we can get this forum really cool... I guess the only down side is you will have to plow thrown all the commerical ads, requests for donations, and endless "pay-per-click" links to get to the stuff you want to read....
But the upside is we will have THOUSANDS of members all posting every day and the forum will be so active with stuff that may or may not be important to you.... But the counters will be rolling...
Is this what we want? Let me know....

Hi all,
Josie,
True, there are other places on the net that are much more active (and I wish them a long, frenzied life!). The thing about this forum I enjoy is its intensity, its camaraderie, its spirit of sistership, its lack of prurient content... in a word, its focus. No, I think it's alive and well. But I'll tell you one thing, Josie, regardless of what actually happens to this forum, it will inevitably live on in the hearts of many, here. I know it will in mine--for years to come. Thanks to the forum, I'm just not the same person I was when I came here, a year ago. And that's a good thing! The forum's "quality of life" matters more, to me, than its "busyness."
Amélie,
I'm "dying" to see that lovely black number, myself!
Love,
CJ

Shannon,
I am perfectly happy with the way this website is now.
If the chat was a little bit easier to use, I may be enticed to try it more often.
I vote NO to having to plow through advertising, etc.
I much prefer QUALITY of our members and their posts to the QUANTITY of advertising and so many posts I could never keep up. We would need a lot more moderators to keep the undesired sleaze out and encourage the quality discussions we have now.
I consider this website my internet home and I like it just the way it is.

I like this forum the way it is. This forum serves the needs of a variety of different people in different places. I like the atmosphere here. There's no pressure to participate in any way. One can post as often as one likes or as little. Some people post every day, others less often. For me, it depends on my mood. I look at all of the forums I belong to daily. I only post when I feel like I can contribute, or if I feel like I need to make a statement.
I think all message boards experience slow periods. There are days when no one really wants to talk, or when there's nothing in particular to talk about. These times pass.

Shannon, honey, you know the old adage? "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" This is not some government operation. Please don't tinker with it. As I have said before, the responses I get and those that I read, I can really feel the caring and the love that my sisters project and I would never want to loose that.

I echo Virginia's sentiments. I didn't come here looking for chat, and I'm comfortable with the format here. Though we might be experiencing a bit of a lull, I don't think it's any worse than other forums might experience from time to time. Let's not kill the patient trying to cure him of a disease that he doesn't have.

This is a well balanced Forum with effective control by our Moderators.
I couldn't get your link to work, but is it part of Rose's Repartee in Sheffield.
Some forums are like working mens clubs, where people with nothing better to do talk all day.
The season to be jolly is upon us. There are preparations to be made, there is less time to spare. Its only to be expected that things will quieten down.
I for one wont let it die.
take care
Kerri
Brrr its freezing here!

Yes yes yes, I would not touch a thing. AD's? Pay per click So many posts I wouldn't know what to do????? I would have to live in a Shoe?????!!!!! This is the best forum , not the busiest. I like shopping at ACE not Home Depot, knowing all that post here has been wonderful, We have a close knit forum let's try to keep it that way. BIGGER <FASTER< MORE whistles, who would want it?????? Not me.. Keep it the way it is. Not everyone is out for the big bang. I know all the people here, I love the people here!!!!!!!!!...........Kristen
Do want you want to do, be who you want to be.

Would you accept an offer to setup and configure a few different forums to let yourselves and the users see what they like/don't like as a test?
I have the server space and bandwidth to do so (as well as the experteice).
Pick a few out and let me know. I may have a few hours this weekend to actually do some freebie stuff.(just finished off a large project phase today.)
Actually, If you are paying for hosting I'll offer to host it on my server.
I doubt it'll eat 1200GB/mo or eat up a dual xeon w/ 2G ram.....

Not refering to producing anything. just setting up a few forums with different features so the admins can see what they are like.Darlene wrote:Hey Ahzz,
What could you produce that is not already available? I am a member of five different forums as it is now and view two others. I prefer this forum (the way it is) above the rest.
Do you feel there is not enough out there for us to be able to decide what we like?
Love Darlene.
Shouldn't take more than 15 minutes per forum to do it...

I am very happy with this forum. The girls here seem to be warmer, more friendly, more caring, more intelligent, more polite, more lady-like, and less bitchy than the folks I have encountered on other CD forums. It has a benign atmosphere in which I can freely express my female persona without feeling guilty or worrying that someone is waiting to trash me.
