Concealear?

Hi Wendy,

Do you use MAC exclusively? I always here about it and then wonder, can it make that big of a difference? I know it's what Jamie uses, but I just can't tell if it's the right thing to buy or not.

If you do use it, is it just the concealer you use?

Sorry if I asked too many questions.

jc penneys has dermablend (as does meier and frank since may's was brought up). yes they come in various shades. donna's right about the power.
I'd rate cover girl's concealer a 4.0 while giving dermablend a 9.0. With dermablend, you won't be concerned about your beard shadow anymore and be able to give your attention to other more interesting things like your fake boobs!

hi ladies,

My husband and I swear by Dermablend. It covers his beard so well that I decided to start using it too, to cover the brown spots from hormones of age and having kids and I love it. It evens out any little scar, spot or anything at all on the face and it looks smoothe and beautiful. I love it! The one thing to know is that they have two kinds of setting powder choices. One is white and the other is skin colored. If you use the white you end up having to use regular, darker powder or you end up looking ghostly. Also, if you don't spread it out good it can at times look like you're wearing 90 lbs of makeup. Which is fine in the evening going out but now for daytime.

Beauty, one of the girls in TGEA, Charlotte and 6'3", says she goes to the MAC place over in Tyson's II for makeovers with no hassles at all.

I've only been there once so I couldn't tell you where it is located in there.

Yes I've heard of that place, but I'm just too much of a chicken little to go.

Sharon Rose also goes there, but she's more like 5'3"

Don't hit me Sharon Rose if I'm wrong about your height. It's hard to remember the height of your petite cuties.

In this case it's thinking about questioning why I don't just go there and get the concealer.

Hi Beauty,

Yes, I do use MAC myself. I have tried both the Studio Stick and the Studio Finish concealer. What I normally use is their Full Coverage foundation and the Studio Finish Matte followed by Select Sheer loose and pressed powder.

I have had make-overs done in both Chicago and Atlanta at MAC, and I have always found the make-up techs at the MAC stores to be very friendly and to be very helpful. They are also very knowledgeable of the products that they sell, and always willing to give honest advice when asked. I would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I hate to bother you even more, but now I want to pick that brain in that pretty head of yours.

You said you use their full coverage foundation and the studio finish matte followed by Select Sheer loose and pressed powder. Do you have to use more because you have facial hair? I'm trying to ask are there thicker types of concealers that others or is really on the complexion of your skin? As you can see I'm totally ignorant about this. If I get it I wanted to make sure I got the right kind. I'm not so sure I could sit with one of them and get a makeover like you were brave enough to do.

I'll take your word about their professionalism. I think you're very classy, so I doubt you'd go anywhere that didn't treat you with respect. Your recommendation sticks like done spaghetti on the wall for me.

I apologize again for asking more about the MAC cosmetics and what you recommend.

Now that you asked, I had to think for a minute...welllllllll, when we're in the bed while made up so to speak, we're not usually sleeping (I know too much information right!?) but I don't recall it getting on the sheets or the pillows (not that I would mind too much because we're usually at hotels traveling and stuff) and we usually try (notice I say try) to wash all of the makeup off before sleep time. It is hard to get off and they even make special remover for it. Hubby usually sweats like a pig (truly) and has to carry a compact to keep his face dry if we're out somewhere. But the foundation and cover NEVER comes off, until removed. And even then sometimes I have a hard time getting mine off. But, that's one of the reasons we like it. It lasts a long, long time and looks great when you go out to a club, dinner or etc... Okay, that's it.

No problem Beauty. I am happy to help out any way that I can.

I use the Full Coverage foundation on my beard area. This is to eliminate any trace of a beard shadow. I apply it with a dry sponge wedge, but you can also moisten the sponge if you are looking for a little more sheer coverage. Like all MAC products, a little goes a long ways, so you don't need to use a great deal of it to get the desired result.

Once I have the beard area covered I then use the Studio Finish Matte on the rest of my face. This is a much more lightweight foundation, and I find that it gives a very natural look. It is also very easy to blend, and does not feel heavy on your face at all.

After everything is blended together, I'll use the translucent Select Sheer loose powder just to hold everything in place and to help reduce any shine. I carry the Select Sheer pressed powder in my purse, and use that for any touch-ups.

Hopes this helps Beauty, but please remember that this is just what I use. I know a lot of other girls here have fantastic results with the products that they use. There are most definitely different weight concealers and foundations on the market. The key is just finding what will work best for your own personal needs.

Hi,

I saw my friend today at Merle Norman. I took a couple pictures to show her the problem. I too look funny around the mouth. She tried a couple things and then tried some yellow concealer. I know I have seen yellow at Walmart.

Anyway I remembered sometime back that someone here recommended yellow to shade the blue look. It wasn't magic, but I looked the best ever tonight when I went to therapy. My skin tone was the most even ever. I just used the foundation that matched my skin over the yellow.

After therapy I went to a store to shop a bit and then went to a card shop and bought some cards. All went great. It helped a lot with my confidence. No one stared and the clerks were polite.

My wife is going to take a couple pictures tonight. That will tell me more how successful the yellow was. I'll get back.

Has anyone else tried the yellow?

It's so weird to read the word beard "anything" because I couldn't ever imagine hair on your face. I see a gal whenever I look at you so that's why I can't make the connection.

Since I don't have facial hair anymore are there degrees of concealer I should use? I know there are colors, but are there different degrees of thickness? Sorry if that sounds super stupid, but I am always so afraid when I shop for myself, I just pick it up and run.

Is the Matte a powder or is it another liquid foundation? It sounds like it's a liquid, but I thought I'd ask just in case.

Ok, I have a worry about using war paint. As my beard is heavy, if I shave in the morning around 6 am then by 5pm I have stubble on my face. Ok, If I was to use concealer and the other war paint to make me look like a lady. Which I would make a very ugly lady, but I have been playing with it as of late.

First, apply a concealer. The concealer for a heavy beard have an orange or yellow tint. However, "cortrations" will cover anything. if you can't find the tinted concealer.

The concealer goes over the beared area.

A foundation, the same tint as the inside of your wrist, should then be used to cover the face and neck, smoothing outward (radially).

A little blush on the cheeks feathered towards the ears.

Eye shadow, mascara, lip liner and then lipstick.
