Have you ever PURGED?
Purging. It comes up a lot on this board. So, lets have a little poll . . .

Purge? Oh, God yes. And after each time, the desire to build a wardrobe is twice as strong as the time before--like the mythic Hydra. Cut of one head and two grow back. Trash one pair of heels, and I end up buying two pairs of pumps, some high heeled boots and slingback heels. (And some ballet flats are next on the list.)
No more. When and if the urge to purge comes along again, I'm going to take a long look in the mirror and ask myself, Honey, are you SURE you want to get rid of these beautiful things. When the urge comes again, I'm going to dump by pinstriped suit, and keep the little black dress. I like it so much better.

Well Shannon, I guess I will make it more 50-50.
I did purge once, when I thought I could make a life by living behind a mask that seemed comfortable since I had done so publicly for so long. As has been said, "Its not nice to fool Mother Nature." In fact, it can't be done, though you can fool yourself for awhile. I had accumulated nothing until after my military service, so had nothing to purge before then. I really didn't lose much in the purge other than some poorly fitting out of style clothes and some undergarments. I was always trying to match the form of the girl-self of my minds eye, and clothes were less important, just more like window dressing (no pun intended when I wrote it), if that makes any sense. Now I shop with an eye toward using clothes as well to help express myself and make an acceptable image. And now I have more clothes than I ever thought I would, and that would represent a real loss if I should go "off my nut" and purge at this late date.

I was once a Purge Queen. That's my term for a gal who makes purging the norm. Buy something, take it home, try it on, look in the mirror, pleasure myself, then throw out what I bought! Often, I'd tear it in the process (on purpose so I couldn't wear it again).
In my twenties, that WAS my crossdressing experience. Never put it all together (a complete outfit with makeup, hair, etc.) until my 40s.
Being a Purge Queen did allow me the fiction of saying "I'm not a crossdresser!" in between binges. It was only something temporary, a purely sexual stop-gap.
From that(!) to dressing full time, in the same life???? Hard to believe, isn't it! "What a long, strange trip it's been!"
Needless to say, I'm a lot happier now. In fact, if you had told me then, that people could be this happy, I wouldn't have believed you.

I have purged a few times but that was while I was going crazy trying to think of a way to come out to my wife. I kept running in to walls
and I would get it in my head that rather than come out to her I would just end it all and have nothing else to do with it and just be the man she married.
However, in a short time I was right back buying make up and new clothes and all to dress up.
After I came out to my wife and in one of our many talks I told her about my purging. My wife then told me that if I ever felt the need to purge again I was to tell her. That way she could pack my things up and put them some place safe so that when I started dressing again I would not have to spend all that money again on every thing new.

Hi Carol Ann,
How old were you when you started dressing?
For those of those who haven't purged before, what was your age when you started dressing?
I can most likely go back and see this by reading beginnings and intros, but I'm lazy.
