Hair Removal by LHE
A local DO put an ad in our local paper about "LHE" A broad spectrum pulsed light hair removal system. I called about it and they charge $125.00 per session and she said it would take 2 -3 sessions. The length of the hair is critical. She said that something in the neighborhood of five'o' clock shadow would remove it "probably permanently." Even if not, what did come back would be very fine and sparse. I think I may give this a shot!

Pulsed Light
Hi Virginia
Here is so info I found all the web on pulsed light hair removal.
http://www.advancedmedicalinstitute.com/hairremoval.htm
Apparently it is is safer than regular laser treatments and a lot less costly.
Seems like the way to go...now if I can only find some place that does it in my area.

I have been having the laser light to remove my beard, chest, shoulders, and toes. I have had two treatments so far. It has cost me around 500 per session. I already shave less but still have a ways to go. My doctor who does it tell me it will take about 6 sessions and I should have between 60 and 90 percent permament reduction.
This is a bit different I guess than what you are being told. By the way, if you do go through it, be sure to get the skin deadner first and apply it about an hour before the session. For my treatments, it has been taking around 575 hits in a period of about an hour and a half. Each hit (without the medication) kind of fells like someone is pouring hot lead on a piece of your skin. The medication reduces the sting by about 50plus percent.
Good luck with yours. I am just so dang tired of my hair. I realize that the procedure will only take care of the dark hairs and not the grey or blondish ones but thats ok I guess. I will take anything over what I have.

Thanks Wendy,
A skin deadner huh??? Since I am very susectible to pain, perhaps a ball-peen hammer to the head would dull my pain? Or enought alcohol to make it bearable. I will definitely ask them about that and thanks for the insight on the grey hair? I would have thought that the light would remove all hair, but I guess the grey sort of absorbs the light. Very interesting.

Hi Virginia,
Please don't forget the very detailed thread Danielle started about her experience.
http://crossdressers-haven.com/forums/v ... php?t=1260
Here's a short thread I started talking about both laser, light, or electrolysis.
http://crossdressers-haven.com/forums/v ... php?t=3699
I'm sure you remember my thread about laser already, so I won't link you to that.
Because of the way hair grows, I can promise you it won't be 3 sessions and then no shadow.
You will think it will be after about 10 days or so after your 3rd treatment, but you'll the shadow again about a week after that. It's not because it doesn't work. It's just because of the way hair grows. Please do lots and lots of research about the person who will be using this tool on your face and how long they've been doing it.
I started in July of 2003. I missed a few appointments, but since October I've been visiting like every three months. I have dreams all the time (including last night) about having facial hair and being somewhat freaked out.
So far I've had 12 treatments total. I'd say it was about the year she told me it would be (my laserologist). In July of last year there really wasn't much to see.
The treatments I go for now are really more for weird hairs that pop up. I can count the number of hairs on two hands that show up now. I paid a flat fee.
I think you're going love not having facial hair, no matter what method you end up choosing.
I love it!!!

Yes. A topical cream is a MUST!
How long do you wait between treatments? 6 could be the right about if they are 2 months apart.
I paid a little over a thousand dollars for unlimited treatments. She promises to keep doing it until the hair is gone from my face. She's great and now a friend too.
Thanks for posting!

Actually, dark hair absorbs light. Gray and white reflect light. It is the light absorbtion that heats the hair shaft/follical down to the root.Virginia wrote:Thanks Wendy,

As for pain, see:

I've heard of patients who put the cream on all over their body instead of just the face, and died.

Beauty,
My first session break was 6 weeks and this next upcoming one will be 8 weeks. So you are right on for the two months. It was so funny because after the first treatment, I thought most all my hair was gone for good then after a few weeks, they started popping up all over again. After the second treatment, they came right back up but I am starting to notice the some areas there are no hairs any more.
DonnaT,
Your commnent about the topical cream is a bit scarey as I have put it on my entire chest and lower abdomen plus my face.
I will do a bit more research on it but the last treatement went very well
