The monorail is pretty cool, when we were there over christmas, they had just gotten it fixed and was offering free rides, so the monorail was extremely cramped and crowded as everyone wanted to take advantage of it.
It is convient, but also pricey. If my memory serves me correctly, I think it is $3 one way.

My wife and I spent all day yesterday shopping to get ready for the trip.
It is quite hard tryi g to find tops for my big shoulders (24" wide) and chest (48"). I found something a the Dress Barn for Women, however. I found a few tops that I thought would work, good thing I tried them on as they didn't leave room for breasts.
Picked up a ring and earings to match the pink color of the top I found. My wife was, at last, enjoying everthing until I picked up the earings. Although we made an agreement that I could get my ears pierced, she's not ready for it. She didn't say anything, at first, but I could tell.
Later she indicated that she hoped I would at least wait until after going to Texas in July for her parents 50th anniversary.
I told her that I was going to cut the pin off, and superglue them on instead of getting pierced. She was happy again.
I've a pair of pearl earings that I mentioned before about supergluing them on. Works well. The new ones were only $6 so I figured, what the heck, try it on these too
I found a nice pink handbag, with a long strap, at DSW (a shoe/accessory store).
Then we went over to the Mens' Warehouse (they sell suits etc.) and bought a new suit. I need one bad, since I've lost 55 pounds. This suit was practically made for me, as the coat fit perfect, the waist on the pants was right on, and the only work they had to do was cuff them, which they did in 20 minutes.
Picked up a white tee top that has a ruffled v-neck at Coldwater Creek.
Oh, and my wife got a whole bunch of things too

Donna,
Sounds like you will have a great time in Vegas. Where are you staying? When you are there go enfemme to see Frank Marino in La Cauge - fantastic. He enjoys meeting members of the TG community at an autograph table after each show. I have been to Vegas 4 times as Melanie and had a great time each time. Never a problem even using the rest rooms.
When you are in Vegas my wife and I will be in Tahoe - our favorite place in Nevada. I hope that Melanie can play while there but not certain since this is a junket paid for by Harrah's. They no doubt expect Mel to be at the tables and slots. WIll see what happens.

Donna I can tell you about a CD/Transgender bar that is really frinedly that I went to off Sahara Ave. It is called Zinngers. Comming off Las Vegas Blvd it is loaced on the left side of the rode. If you get to St. Maryland Parkway you just passed it. Make A U turn and it will on your right now about 1 block heading back toward Las Vegas Blvd. There is parking in the back.

Donna have a good time enjoy it girl.
I was in L.V. last year but only in drab, I was too busy seeing the place I never had the desire or thought to get dressed.
Try and take a helicopter ride at night its well worth it PURE MAGIC!
When dressed or in drab stay on the main drag (Pun intended sorry) you should be safe. Not so safe on the side streets. If going to Lombart Street (I think its called: Lights over your head} take a cab there and back its safer for you both. The Strip, main road is very safe police, security ect.
Day Night no such thing in Vegas its 24/7.
Let us know how it went.

Donna,
I always feel naughty posting here but I got excited about your topic! My husband and I go to Vegas once a year and always use that time for him to dress at least part of the trip. We've been to Glamour Boutique. It's a bit cramped and the hours unpredictable because they aren't always open when they are supposed to be however the staff that we've met are really nice. Vegas has a magazine (huge) which contains all types of TG info that you can pick up while you're in there and it has the scoop on loads of activities. Also, we've been to Frank's show. If you go early you get to do the photo, autograph thing so don't be late. My DH went dressed and here's another tip. If you are a sweat-er beware because it's extremely crowded and hot inside the theater. My husband sweated so badly even his dermablend began to run. Thank God I had tissues in his purse. It made him self-conscious none the less to be dripping. The one disappointment we had about the show was that we didn't realize the whole thing is lip-synced so after awhile it got a tad boring because it was like watching the same thing over and over again. Anyhoo, watch for Cher and if you can figure out where his "thing" is let us know. He wears this thin piece of floss and it's amazing. There's also a fun place to go that has an evening of TG stuff; a variety of things and there's always neat people there. It's called Hamburger Mary's. We went during the day in drab to check it out and the bar tender there filled me in on what night and what they do. It was pretty cool and there's a Triess type group that night that comes in for their meeting outing so you arent' alone. If I were you I would not go downtown to Lafayette street dressed. Stick to the main strip and be mindful that the casinos are extremely brightly lit for makeup application. My husband looked like a ghost the first time out because of his foundation and beard cover. We learned to darken it while he's out there in the evenings. I'll try to think of more good stuff. There are other dress places and there's a good shoe place too. If you want I can email you privately. We go June 19-24. I can't wait! We always have a great time when we're there. It's why we go annually! Have a ball on your trip! Oh yea and try to wear comfortable shoes!

Hi Donna--
This does all sound like a lot of fun already. I went to Reno last August, and I hadn't been there for five years, probably. My only time in Vegas was at 6am in the morning, sitting in a Union Pacific passenger train headed for LA in 1968. Hardly a fair look at Las Vegas!
I think the newness and excitement of this trip will help your wife have a good time if the two of you go out together. There aren't the worries about running into people you know, there, for one thing.
I have a wedding to attend coming up, and I'd really like a new suit, so I kinda envy you there. Too many other expenses that have priority--think I'll have to get my old one altered, and throw it on.

Thanks everyone
Kay, you sound more excited than me
Thanks for the info.
I do tend to sweat, but hopefully the 60 lbs I've lost so far will help ease up on that. Maybe a little ice under the wig
So the photos with Frank are before the show? Glad you said something, as I thought it the other way round.
Comfortale shoes? What's that
? All mine are 3" or higher.
I only plan for the one night out, to test the waters, so to speak, to see how my wife likes getting wet
I probably couldn't take the heat of the day in a wig anyway.

I AM excited! For both of us! We're going to have fun, fun, fun! You know the rest of that song don't you?? Hee hee!
The heat remains during the evening hours too unfortunately. After the show everyone pretty much scurries out. You and your wife will have fun no matter what you end up doing. Oh yea I forgot to mention that when we were at Glamour Boutique, we bought some really good tatoo cover. He has a really dark shadow beard and it works like magic. Have a lovely time with your wife on the trip. I can't wait to hear how things go!
