What Is Your Orientation to Dressing Across Gender Lines?

Post by Jamie Ann »

Recent poll results suggest that the members of and visitors to this site may differ from transgendered persons more generally. What is your orientation? Where do you fit with the larger transgendered community?
Take care,

Jamie Ann,

I wear dresses, skirts, blouses and tops full time at home in our home. I went out dressed to therapy and to shop 10 times in the last 24 months. Only two of those times were to therapy. It seems that going out every couple months keeps me happily in touch with the woman in me.

These adventures have been very important to me. These ventures have played a big part in my quest for self-acceptance. To have confidence in me, as me in public, has givin me re-enforcement that I am ok by all the kind people that I have met and have been kind to me. The one exception was a group of girls who laughed and pointed at me in a mall. It hurt some, but I just worked harder on my style, make-up and getting a more real looking wig. I have made many friends along this journey.

I understand that acceptance comes from within, but still it helped me when I had so much self loathing. The self hate is gone in me. Dressing, feeling wonderful, and complete, has helped me to become the person I always thought I could be. My male part has become comfortable with the woman in me. The constant raging lifetime battle is now at peace!

Please forgive me for rambling again over a simple question. I do hope many respond to this poll.

Thanks, Jamie Ann.

I answered "Part time and go out dressed a few times a year"

However, I have only been out a few times, not a few times a year, unless you count dressed as not fully done up to look female then its every day.

Plan on a few times a year though.

I dress fully at home quite often (at least several times a week). If I am lucky, I can get out fully dressed a few times a year. I have to be careful, as too many people know me locally. I can't travel very well any more due to a medical problem, so going out of town is not really a viable option.

But, given my druthers, I sure would like to be able to get out dressed as often as possible!! Just seems so much more comfortable being dressed. I would love to be able to go out doing normal everyday things while dressed. I believe I would feel much freer then. Who knows --- maybe one of these days, that chance may come! :) :)

When I originally answered the poll I never left a reply.
I answered "part time only at home"
Well, things change. I made my first venture out fully dressed the other night. It was just a late evening drive around town, but it was exhilerating! I still can't get over the rush!
I loved it and will definitely be doing more; rather I can get up the nerve to actually go somewhere remains to be seen. But for now I can be satisfied with baby steps!
