Shopping Game
Many of us crossdressers are afraid to shop for their own clothing, for fear the salespeople will realize it is for them. This is a much bigger problem with male-to-female than female-to-male - many women buy clothes for men since many men don't shop at all.
Many people I've seen on these forums claim that they've admitted the clothing was for them and have even been allowed to try clothing on!!! I guess to salespeople, sales are sales, no matter why.
So I've come up with the following scoring system when a male-to-female crossdressers shops:
Being inside a women's clothing store: 1 point per minute. Any fractional minutes round up.
Holding items of interest: 1 point per minute per item.
Being said hello to and not running away: 5 points
Being offered help and not running away: 25 points
Accepting help: 100 points
Asking for help: 250 points
Purchasing items: 50 points each
Finding a discount on an item: 50 point bonus per item. (this shopping behavior is more "female")
Being asked who the clothing is for and not running away: 50 points
Being asked who the clothing is for and admitting it's for you: 500 points
Volunteering that the clothing is for you: 1,000 points
Being offered to try something on and not running away: 250 points
Accepting an offer to try something on: 1,000 points
Flat-out asking to try something on: 2,000 points
Walking through a mall carrying a bag from a women's clothing store: 1 point per 5 minutes per bag.

That's a neat way of motivating yourself if you are a bit worried about shopping. I was very scared myself when I first started. I suppose the 'prize' in this game is getting to wear those lovely garments that you just purchased once you get home
. I just love trying something on for the first time.

Perhaps I can add a few things for purchases other than clothing:
Browsing a makeup counter: 5 points per minute.
Buying makeup: 200 points (few women would rely on a man to buy her makeup)
Being said hello to by someone behind the makeup counter and not running away: 25 points
Being offered help at the makeup counter and not running away: 100 points
Accepting help at the makeup counter: 300 points
Asking for help at the makeup counter: 600 points
Being asked who the makeup is for and not running away: 200 points
Being asked who the makeup is for and admitting it's for you: 1,000 points
Flat-out admitting the makeup is for you: 2,000 points
[edited]
And for anything -
Leaving money on the counter and running off in fright without your items: -1 point per dollar. (Purchases sometimes run hundreds of dollars, so that will lose hundreds of points!)
Feel free to correct any erroneous assumptions I have, and suggest raising or lowering point values accordingly.

I just thought of something: If you sit down to eat somewhere carrying bags from women's clothing stores, people get more time to notice you. So I would up the points for that to one point per TWO minutes per bag. Feel free to add any other point suggestions, and also suggest raising or lowering certain point values.

Let me see now:
Going into Old Navy Womens section for 15 Minutes - 15 points
Checking out Womens Bermuda Shorts for 15 minutes - 15 points
Asking to try them on - 2000 points
Buying two pair of shorts on sale - 200 points
Total - 2,230 points
Not bad for one trip

Fantastic!! The point value for flat-out asking to try something on is that high because not only is it obvious it is for you, but you're rubbing it in to the salesperson AND several other customers - possibly people you know - could hear it. Not only that, but it takes even more guts to ask to use a fitting room that is normally only for women. It's easy to think you're asking too much, and that the thought of a man trying on their stuff would gross everyone out. If these are legitimate fears that most new shoppers have, then it should be worth even more than flat-out admitting that something is for you. You'd still get the points even if you whispered it in the salesperson's ear.
With that, you've done far better than I've ever done - making it obvious that it is for me is unthinkable to me right now, but at least I have kept from running away when offered help. I guess the next step for me is to accept help - help finding a particular size would do just fine.
Let me figure, approximately, the highest score I've ever gotten: Probably my second time shopping, when I got six items(not all from the same store), and had to wait in a very long line at Victoria's Secret having their after-Christmas sale. I can't remember what deals I got, so I'll assume I found one discount. Can't remember what it is I got. So:
Being inside these stores for a total of approximately 50 minutes: 50 points
Holding three items of interest for approximately 10 minutes at Wet Seal: 30 points
Holding three items of interest for approximately 20 minutes at Victoria's Secret(if you count waiting in line with the items): 60 points
Purchasing six items: 300 points
Finding a discount on one item: 50 points
Walking through the mall for 5 minutes carrying one bag: 1 point
Walking through the mall for 5 minutes carrying two bags: 2 points
TOTAL: 493 points
Still less than a quarter of what you got.
When I have some more money, I can set out to beat this. My plan is to get a boost in points by accepting help.
Also, feel free to come up with other things that you think should get points. Perhaps points for being deliberately embarrassed and not running away?
I guess the "reward" for getting as many points as you did would be to have someone you know you can talk about your little "secret" with!!

(months later)
Recent purchases today. Only scored 276, but I had less than half the money.
Being inside the store for approximately 25 minutes: 25
Holding two items of interest for approximately 10 minutes: 20
Holding four items of interest for approximately 5 minutes: 20
Being offered help from a customer and not running away: 10
Purchasing four items: 200
Walking through the mall with the bag for 5 minutes: 1
TOTAL: 276
I decided that since the offer came from a customer(to get something off the back end of the rack), it deserved only 10 points. Accepting the help would have been 50.
