"I've had a chance to chat with the owner on the few occasions I've been there and I have to admit she seems a bit unconventional. My guess is that she's not so much into the kink of having a man shop for skirts and heels as she is into a sort of muted admiration for a person not willing to be shamed by conventional mores."

Hi CJ,

I guess that just adds creedance to the old truism that some women and girls are inexorably attracted "bad boys", even if in some cases, the "bad boys" want to be "bad girls" themselves! :-k :P

Hugs,

Leslie

Well, I didn't buy it yet, but it's on my personal wish list...

This Casio Baby G Ladies Watch (I've become such a watch geek lately!!) It's got all the features we've come to know & love from Casio. And the night light is the most beautiful neon lavender I've ever seen!! It used to be $150. Now it's down to like $69!! (not to mention my 20% employee discount)

This week I'm on a tight budget otherwise I would have picked it up today. But I'll keep it "hidden safely " until I can buy it next week...

This watch is the cutest!!

Went to Pineville yesterday with the intention of hitting my favorite Goodwill thrift store. I never made it, instead being lured into a discount/clearance store called Rugged Wearhouse. It was almost as good as getting the thrift store, if a little nicer. My haul:

2 pairs of clip earrings: $1.99 and $4.99 (Liz Claiborne) apiece
a black Venezia racer back tank: $2.00
a matched set of jacket and shell blouse (magenta silk with orange lining) by Sag Harbor: $12.99 and $6.99
a pair of tan suede pants, Moda International: $6.00
a cute little black purse (no name brand): $4.99

all for less than $43.00!

Today,

My wife and I went out for breakfast, a quick stop at Walmart, then to the Amvets thrift store. Everything was half price. We are getting picky but found several bargains - a 1 piece ruffled raspberry crinkle dress, 2 piece green suit, a designer pleated pink floral skirt (poufbunny delight!) primarily for me, a tan split skirt, and a tan designer skirt with the tags still attached primarily for my wife (we share :) ).

Total money spent - under $12 US. The original store price tag on the tan designer skirt was $38 US.

The checkout line was a little long but at those prices, it was worth the wait.

I went out Saturday night after work. I went by Payless, determined to score a couple pairs during the latest round of BOGO (Buy One, Get One half-off), but they were getting ready to close, and I don't like to shop if I can't take my time. In a fit of needing to buy SOMETHING (I've rediscovered the therapeutic value of shopping!), I went further back into the strip mall to TJ Maxx. It was only my second visit ever, and the first time I ever tried to buy anything. I figured I couldn't go wrong with the words "Clearance Sale". Most of the stuff I looked at was still too expensive for me, but I did find a nice one-piece Nautica swimsuit (I will get into the pool this year!) and a nice blue floral print skort (is that the word - looks like a skirt, but is divided underneath?).

Yesterday I got my first (in about six years, that is) federal income tax return. It was my day off, so I went SHOPPING!

I went back to Rugged Wearhouse (this is becoming one of my favorite stores). I got two more of those Venezia tank tops, two tee-tops, a pair of Lee stretch jeans, a pair of khaki shorts, a pair of stretch capris, a sterling ring (very Goth) and two pairs of shoes: a pair of Ecko Red sandals and pair of open-toed pumps that look very 1980-something. They're pale yellow, with a little skinny bow behind the toe opening, with 2.5" heels. Plus, I got two aromatic candles for 50 cents each.

Then I went to Payless. They're running their BOGO (Buy One, Get One half off) promotion, and I picked up a pair of brown slides and a nice saddlebag-type purse.

Today,

My wife and I went to a late lunch today, then stopped at a Goodwill store.

I picked up 2 tops, one for Autumn, black with leaves embroidered in gold, for 99 cents, the other sparkly silver/gray striped for $1.50.

We also bought an Autumn vest (black with orange pumpkins) as a gift for a GG relative who likes to wear seasonal clothing (99 cents).

My wife bought herself a nice pair of slacks for $3.

We also found a solution for storage of off season clothes. We wanted something better for us than plastic storage tubs that was sturdy, decent looking, and had large drawers. We found it there - an oak veneer 2 drawer transverse legal size filing cabinet. It was marked at $10 but the drawers didn't seem to line up or open easily. After I swapped the position of the drawers (top and bottom) they fit and worked fine. It fit in the back of my station wagon just fine, and now it looks good in our guest bedroom. We had been looking at dept stores and furiture stores at storage cabinets and dressers, but this will work at a fraction of the cost.

The trip to Goodwill cost less than $20.

What did you buy?

Jadeanne,
Your shopping trip sounds like it was fun, It's a lot more fun when you find what you can use at price that is not as high as the time your having.

Jessoe, I could not agree with you more. I haven't had a lot of money these last few month's for what I would like to buy, so it's a kick to read what other girls are buying.

Today I splurged and bought some Jane brand foundation and powder, new french nails. Also picked up some knee highs and white thread for repairing my home made hip pads. Been having a problem with the pads walking around under my panty hose so I sewd nylon tricot on the outside. I have had them on since early this morning and the walking has stopped. Keep postin, keep shopping, keep smilin and KEEP Dressin.....Kristen

Inspired by Jaedeanne & Jessie I went shopping looking for a string bikini swim suit. I could not find what I wanted in my size( I hate that) But I went to ARC thrift store and found a pair of stretch blue jeans that fit very well , and a pair of stretch white back zip pants. Youser, I have been looking for a pair since the last Mellieium. I also picked up a burgandy top with lettuce edging, a pink top, again with lettuce edging, and a forest green ribbed top with lettuce edging. All for$17, thank you girls for inspiring me to go out and look . Keep smilin ,keep postin, keep dressin and Keep buying. ....Kristen

Great deal, Kristen!

Speaking of which, I spotted the cutest pair of white capri pants at work today. They were originally $40, but they're now 40% off! But I think I'll wait till Wednesday to get them. That's our big sale day - they're going to lop off another 40%!! Not to mention my 20% employee discount... I'll pay less for them than I pay for lunch!!

And just to be on the safe side I asked them to hold a pair for me! It pays to be connected on the inside... as much as I sometimes may curse the retail job, it's times like this that I love it! I love knowing in advance when the big sales will be!!

Even with my very modest income, I'm still wearing brands that I never dreamed I could afford... I have also graduated from costume jewelry to sterling silver... bought a pair of strerling silver chandelier earrings for $12 last week!! @@9@@
