Kooky Consonance and Asinine Assonance

Post by CJ »

Hi all,

I'm in a playful mood tonight. I like playing with words.

Consonance: the repeating of specific consonant sounds after different vowel sounds.
Assonance: the repeating of a specific vowel sound or group of vowel sounds throughout a poem, but not the consonants following them.

No need to be literary here, just wacky. Anything goes: poetry, definitions, whatever.

I'll start off with these:

Definition of a heterosexual male: boy avoid a boy.

Synopsis of the movie Duel, by Steven Spielberg: trucker run amok.

Our cutie, Beauty (not a newbie), bought a tot a pop. Her mom, alarmed, brought out a marmalade thermometer.

One of my favourite examples of consonance is the title of this country song by Randy Hanzlick: I'd Rather Have A Bottle In Front Of Me Than A Frontal Lobotomy.

Love,
CJ

I'm going to have to be a lurker to this thread. It's way to smart/over my head for me to participate. I'll enjoy reading though. :)

Here's to the smart! ||oo|| ||oo||

OK, help me out here, English terminology was not my thing.

Is:

Great guns going, bing, bang, boom!

A consonance, an alliteration, both, neither?

What about?

Two tired t-girls tottered timidly to town.

or

The wide windy wild river calmed.

Hmmmm. How about, "I'd rather be chef tonight than left alight?

or "CBS banned Dan Rather for working a rumor into a lather?

or Politics turn to the right and many spurned the fight?

Hi all,

Something my father used to tell us over and over and over (and over) when we were kids:

Four funny freckle-faced fellows found 14 flouncing frogs fighting furiously for 55 fried fishes floating far from Fort Frontenac.

Dads, eh! What would we do without them?

Fun contributions, by the way, y'all. Lorna, your stuff is double plus fine, no worries.

Love,
CJ
