Another of my old friends passed away. Funeral tomorrow. He dropped out of school at 13 to support his sibs and mom after his dad died in the midst of the Depression, worked for the WPA for a dollar a day for several years at the largest prehistoric urban site in the United States, Cahokia east of St. Louis. He was involved in archeology from then until his death this week at 93, even though he did not have any formal schooling in the subject. He also worked in museums making exhibits to explain the past to others, and shared his enthusiasm for the past in an infectious manner. RIP my friend.

Tomorrow I am off to Calgary, AB to visit a friend and go to the Stampede. I will be there 2 weeks. I'm taking the 3 kids with me and DRIVING there. 1500 miles and 24 hours in a truck with 3 kids. LORD HELP YOU AND ME BOTH DONNA! I wish you a safe trip.

I NEVER thought I'd see the day where I'd be able to use the word vacation again... but just wait till August!!! And entire week off from work! A WHOLE WEEK to do whatever I want! Wow... it's been TOO long...

And the beauty of it is... it's a PAID vacation!! Someone pinch me!!

I can't wait till mid-August!!!
