Is it a coincidence?

General talk about CD/TGing and gender topics that aren't necessarily fun things we do while en femme, or for gender-driven discussions.

Is it a coincidence?

Post by Connie »

Well, I'm sitting here [dressed] watching television and browsing through the forum when I realized that I hadn't looked at my snail-mail yet. When I had gotten it out of my mailbox I noticed two pieced to look at; a BeautyTrends catalog and what I assumed would be an invitation to my almost 6 years-old niece's birthday party, which I opened first.

She is obviously going with a "My Little Pony" theme this year. The interesting part is that the front of the invitation says

"Hey, Pony Girl! It's Time to Celebrate!"

I am assuming that either there are no "boy" cards [-o<
or that maybe the boy cards were sent to others 8-[ and they figure Uncle won't mind
or ... do they know something? :-k

Well, I know that I won't be "dressing" for this occasion [-( especially since I am fairly sure they do not (entirely) know about this side of me. 8-[ and, of course could be confusing to the kids to have another "aunt"

Well there Pony Girl!

From a six year old my guess is she got your card mixed up with one that was meant to go to some one else. But I could be wrong (it’s happened before).

Now if you want to over react (by attempting to appear different) ask her what she means by calling you Pony Girl.

Let's see, uh, a six year old niece so that means that she is your sister or brother's kid! Do they know who Connie is??? Maybe it is taking a shot a you or maybe like you said there were not "cowBOY" invitations. I would just do what you would normally do, buy her a big expensive gift, go to her party,( watch your figure and don't eat too much cake).
Keep the faith,

At that age Connie, she's probably just having an all girls party and used the invites she had to invite her favorite aunt, er. . .uncle.

Thanks girls.

I think, Darlene and Beauty, that I wll keep an ear out whether others got similar cards or I was the only adult to get one. I expect that one party will be given for her age group (probably girls and boys, which makes me wonder if boys were sent this card too) and that the one I have been invited to will be the "adult" version (where she gets the big haul) for family, friends of parents and neighbors and that those invitations come in a package of maybe 25 so why not use some for family?

Virginia, I will definately take a nice gift, not too expensive, but you know, you can never eat too much cake! They do not know who Connie is although it is possible some of my family (2 brothers, 1 sister) have some idea that there may be a "Connie-like" aspect to their sibling.

And she is the only child of my younger brother (Mr. Mom).

Connie,

I wouldn't read to much into it. If the cards are all preprinted they probally used it just to get the word out. I received something similar one time, after I got to the party her mom apoligized for the card. She said it was what was left and hoped I didn't mind. I told her I got a laugh when I opened the card as I wondered if I got the invite to the kid party by mistake or the invite was to go to someone else. We had a good laugh at the party about it.

Had a similar thing happen on Fathers' Day - got a "Mothers' Day" card from wife and daughters. Since I am sort of the stay-at-home parent and get treated like a wife some times and refer to myself as the June Cleaver of the family, that's the card I got!!! I love it!!!! Even though they don't really know about Rikki. (I did dress as June last Halloween, pearls, petticoats, heels and sheer apron) :)
Enjoy, rr
