Hi Darla,
Congrats on your new purchase, I found a nice denim skirt at the Dollar Store this summer and I just love it. :)

AAHH!! Darla , theres nothing like the thrill of your first purchase *-*

Even after all my years I still get on a high , especially when I find an item I've been longing for and it fits and looks great.

Hi Darla--
There's something about that first skirt. When I went on my first shopping trip, it was to a store that specialized in CDs and drag queens. I was so nervous that I bought a pack of cigarettes (which I hardly ever smoked by that time) and smoked two outside the store. Then I went in, and the sales help sold me two items immediately, neither of which I ever used much. But...they told me they could make a custom skirt out of crushed velvet, and I was hooked! I came back in two or three weeks and claimed it, and that was great. It was my only skirt for a long time; above the knee, and fairly tight. I never thought about whether it was appropriate or not--I just wore it everywhere. It was quite a while before I got the second one.

Good for you Darla! I still remember the feeling of buying my first one like it was yesterday. It was a navy knee length pleated skirt which I deliberately bought one size too small because being as nervous as I was, I didn't want to make it obvious that it was for me if a sales person were to inquire. Although it was a quiet time of day, it took me about an hour of circling the rack before I had the courage to take it to the checkout. Of course, I was strictly in boy mode back then.

By contrast, my latest one, bought earlier this month, was a black gypsy style skirt which I tried on in the store in front of a group of girls in the ladies change room. That was so much fun. How far we've come but the excitement that day was not that far removed from that first experience one never forgets.

BTW, being a sementalist, that first skirt still hangs in my closet even though it never did quite fit me.

Congratulations Darla, you're on your way.

I've noticed that since I bought my first jean skirt, the little black skirts I usually wore have remained in the closet

First skirt

Congrats on your wonderful find. I can remember my first skirt that I bought for myself. My wife had bought me a couple of skirts before. But this one was different. I bought it without her help. It ment a lot to ma. As I am sure your first skirt means a lot to you. Do enjoy your skirt and wear it with pride. =D>
