Where are you the dressing chart?
Hello ladies
I've only been on a couple of weeks but this place is fabulous. We all really don't know each other but we know each other intimately on one level and it does feel great to talk to others of like kind.
I've been reading lots of posts and wondered how most of you feel about dressing en femme. On a scale of one to ten I love it and go out whole hog(No pun intended!) I have all the gear and I mean ALL the gear. On the scale of one to ten where are you other ladies? I'm definatley an 11 but my wife says I'm a bit obsessive compulsive. Who ? Me? I I have always felt that if you do something you have to do it right and crossdressing is no differant. I LOVE IT! And I hope all you gals are like me. When I'm dressed I feel at home and don't all of us no matter what size look and feel absolutley beautiful. Enjoy what you love and love what you enjoy. Life is too short to play word games and overthink the situation. Love you all. We are very special people. BIG HUGS TO EVERYONE!
Every last one of you are beautiful!

Definietly not everything. I don't do makeup or shoes although I have unisex sandals. I don't shave anything. No wig although I have long hair but it looks like guy long hair.
More to the point often my outfits don't quite match, or I will think to myself that if I was trying to portray a female persona this is not what she would wear.
On the other hand this is really cool. I do have some outfits that Andrea, whoever she actually is, would feel expresses who she is. Or perhaps I should say they express a side of me in my complete whole ying-yang of male-femaleness.
I remember last winter when my family was away. I woke up in a white slip and robe and it had just snowed. I was really struck by how my clothing matched the snow. A feeling I would not have had in wearing all guy clothes even if they were all white.
Not sure where I would fit on the scale. Andrea becomes more of a tomboy all the time also.

Hard to answer that one on a scale basis for me.
I, like prob many others, have issues of time or timing. I would LOVE to be able to dress completely much more often than I currently do. But, due to work, and wife at home who mostly just tolerates on a "as long as I don't see" basis, it's difficult to have the opportunity as often.
As to how much I dress when I do.... again, kinda depends on the time I have available. I will only dress when I have enough time to do it right... complete clothes right down to the heels. But, unless wife is out of town, or I know she'll be gone for several hours, I won't do makeup.
I do so envy those of you that can dress whenever.... that would be so nice. Oh, well.... maybe wife will be visiting family again soon!

Where are you on the dressing chart?
Where I am today as compared to 6 months ago, when I rejoined the active CD status has expanded quite a bit. When I started up again last March, it was just pantyhose, sandals, men's shorts and usually a white dress shirt. I guess that would be classified as fairly androgynous.
At this time, I enjoy an expanded consciousness of the wonderful feel of women's dress from the inside out: panties; stockings (usually thigh high); skirt (business length at knee); dressy but conservative blouse; heels; some jewelry (earrings); and a little bit of work on my hair for a more fem look. Yet to acquire a wig and doubt that will happen due to cost and concealment issues, but would love to try one. Don't do make up other than a little neutral lip gloss which is hardly visible.
Since I am 100% closeted, I dress for myself only and enjoy developing that professional/office conservative look.
Am trying to watch the acquisitions as adequate hiding places are so limited although I periodically come up with a new spot I had not thought of before.
Love,
Gretchen

Where am I on the dressing scale? With 10 being fully dressed including makeup, wig, etc., I would rate myself 3 or 4. Now, do I enjoy what I wear? Am I comfortable wearing it? I'll take a 10 on those, thank you.
Love,
Kathy

I recently built a 12'x16'x8' shed with closets and shelves. The outside matches the house with two windows, and electricity. It is a lot easier keeping everything there on hangers with out having to worry too much.. My wife does not go into the shed as there is a lot of gardening equipment in there.

When you think things aren't good for you..... you have to remember there are others that have things worse.
I've always been disappointed that my wife just "tolerates" my dressing, so I have to wait till she's out of the house for awhile before I can dress completely..... which is certainly not as often as I would like.
But, at least I can have my clothes hung in the closet.... lingerie in the dresser... and my shoes under the bed.
Maybe things change as time goes on.... hopefully for the better. But, it's a good idea to be thankful for the things you do have.

Well, reading those previous posts, I feel almost humble in admitting that I would be around a 10 on that scale. That of course has more to do with having a supportive wife than anything else. Being able to go out fully dressed, from wig, makeup right down to pretty toenails, to being able to have my femme clothes hanging in my closet, makes me a very lucky gal.
The nice thing about 'scales' though is that one's position on there isn't necessarily permanent as situations can change at any time. So don't resign yourself to where you are now. Always think about the next step on the scale and work on ways to get there as well as consolidating the gains you have made thusfar. Set realistic goals and move one step at at time. In evaluating where I am right now, I never lose sight of the fact that it's a long way down so I have to stay focused on what I have to do to maintain the status quo. Whatever it takes.

Your lucky Stephanie that you can dress fully and pass. You make a very attractive woman. I've never been out(Except Halloween) but rather than having millions of dollars given to me I would just like love to go clothes or grocery shopping and take in a movie once or twice a week en femme. That would fullful the women in me for the rest of my life. Very simple and inexpensive fantasy to I would say. I'd make some woman a great wife! Hugs ladies.

Re: Where are you the dressing chart?
Doing it right means different things to different cross dressers. I am doing it right. I dress at home which translates into nearly 24/7. I some times wear a wig but not most of the time. the only make up is occasionally some lipstick, and occasionally some jewelry. If I were the one making the scale I would be at a 10 (in a 1 - 10 progression.) I am a man that (right now) is enjoying wearing this dress while typing this message. In part Jeannie wrote: I have always felt that if you do something you have to do it right and cross dressing is no different.

Dressing scale
I should of qualified that statement with "Doing what is right for me" We as CD's have enough to worry about without having to dress like others think we should dress. Whatever makes you feel good by all means do it. Life is too short. I feel that when we are dressed we all feel wonderful!Calm. serene and happy no matter what you have on. If we could be the persons that we are whenever we what we all would be better partners. I wish our live ins would understand that. It fills a hole in our lives that makes us a complete person. You have to love and accept yourself before you can truly love another. Hugs and kisses!

PS Tip of the day. Never use a steam iron dressed in a bra and sheer little panties! Jeannie loves to but all Johhny said was"OUCH"

I know what you mean about the simple things being important to us. When I started going out, just walking the street dressed was a dream come true. Then going shopping for the first time, my first movie, restaurant, or my first subway ride. Milestones one and all! The nice thing is being able to compile a list of 'things to do while dressed' and just going out and doing them. Things most people take for granted but the feeling of each accomplishment is exhilarating.
I agree that as CD's, we should be doing it right, particularly with respect to taking those first steps out in public if that is what you want to do. There is a fine balance to what we should strive for if we want to blend in. Whether we like it or not, this means fitting into an expected norm. If we choose to dress, let's say 'inappropriately' for a visit to the mall, we should expect to attract unwanted attention. That would be considered "NOT doing it right. However, if attention is the name of your game, then that WOULD be doing it right. As Loretta alluded to, different things to different people!
In the privacy of your own home however, it doesn't matter WHAT sartorial choices you make. If it makes you feel good, you're doing it right!
