2005 TGEA Holiday Gala

Post by SharonRose »

Hi ladies,

Last night I attended the Transgender Education Association of Greater Washington (TGEA)'s 2005 Holiday Gala, at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Crystal City, VA.

My wife helped me get ready for the evening. She lent me one of her black evening bags, and a necklace, and did my nails.

I was a bit on edge all day as I was very excited and had been planning my evening for quite a while.

I wore a dark red cap sleeve dress with whisps of black in it, which I purchased at the Syms store in Falls Church. The black shoes were Mootsie's Tootsie fabric evening shoes from DSW. I decided to go with a comfortable heel, on my wife's recommendation.

My wife and I sat with DonnaT and her spouse, and some of my other friends from TGEA. The room was beautifully decorated for the holidays. The food was nice. We had great entertainment. Vicki D'Salle, a TG piano player, (http://www.vickidsalle.com/) performed. She plays "boogie style piano." It was a nice change of pace from the drag shows which we usually have.

After Vicki's performance there was also a DJ, and I danced the night away. My wife's advice was very helpful, as I was able to dance without problems in the shoes.

I had a fantastic time. I was able to relax and enjoy myself. It was nice catching up with everyone, as there were several people who had moved out of the area and had come back to visit for the holiday formal.

My friend Kendra Lynn, another TGEA member, arrived after dinner for the post-evening dancing and entertainment. She just joined the Forum, and she had posted a bit about herself under the new members thread. I know you will all make her feel welcome.

I too had a really good time. Since I'm not a member of TGEA, I am glad Sharon and her wife were able to join us at our table. I got reaquanted with some I met last year, and met a few new girls that came around to talk to Sharon.

My wife was more relaxed as well, and Sharon's wife being there helped. My wife kept commenting on how pretty some of the girls were, and some had her wondering if they were RGs or CDs. The whole idea of getting my wife to such parties was for her to feel more relaxed around other CDs. It's working

Like Sharon said, she danced and danced, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. Never was good at it, and I know that's no excuse, as there were more than a few there not so good at it eaither, they were there to have fun and did.

I'll put up a couple of pictures once I resize them.

And yes, I wore the danglies, as you'll see. I didn't even feel them hanging there, so they weren't heavy at all.

I tried some press-on nails for the first time. I spent part of Friday and Saturday morning putting a few coats of polish and a top coat on them, so they would match my toe nails. But you could hardly see my toe nails so it wouldn't have mattered other than the color went with my red beaded jacket. The dress was black velvet, and I purchased it a few years ago when Kmart was closing some of it's stores. This was the first chance I had to wear it, however. And my wife want's me to clean my closet. Ha! :P

The three strand pearl necklace I wore was made by my wife.

My jaw was hurting this morning from all the smiling last night, not so's you'd notice from the pictures. :-k

So, even the wife was being 'fooled', huh? And she was having a good time, too? Even better, IMHO!!

Ok, Donna, you went against the Doctor's advice and wore your new dangly earrings. [-X I'm just glad you had no problems with them! No woodshed for you - this time! :P =D> Your sore jaw from all the smiling you did is payment enough!! ..rofl..

AAAAHHHHHH! I wish I could have been there!! You gotta admit they are such fun and isn't everyone just as nice as they can be. I would think that any GG would feel comfortable at such a party once they get past the fact that everyone is there to have fun, be themselves and be............. It is so great that the wives went, it can just further confirm that we ain't a bucnh of psychos. What is even more amazing is that if you were to talk with a lot of the girls one on one and you find out what they do for a living it can be an "eye-opening" experience as well.

I am so glad you all had fun, I wish ai could have been there, but there is always next year!
Love,
Virginia

The TGEA sounds interesting, and the event you attended *more than fun*
