A third bathroom?

Post by Virginia »

Did anyone hear that in Rio they have so many "transvestites" that they are passing an ordance that the city must build a third set of bathrooms?
The "girls" get beat up for using the men's and the women are "uncomfortable" with "them" using their facilities, so because there are so many a third set of bathrooms must be built - it's the law??!!
Wonder what sign they will post on the door? [-X

28,000 transvestites out of a population of 800,000 people? That equates to 3.5% of the population. And that's only the numbers they know about! Any guesses what the 'real ' number would be? Comparing that to my city of 2.5 million, that would give us approximately 84,000 'out' CD's. In my five years of being out, I'd be hard pressed to count more than 400 I've seen or met in my travels. So where are the other 83,600 hiding? Surely not back in the closet?

Too bad that article is misleading with its inference that TV's are all gay.

Yes.. but it is a stepping stone.. one at a time.. with the unelightened..

There are soo many of us yet so many (me for one) are too afraid because of society's misguided to correct the miss-informed to correct it.. no matter who we are.. there will always be people with hatred in their hearts with someone who is different... shame....

Thanks Pauline for adding credence to my input. I knew what I had heard and it is refreshing that we continue to get some type of recognition. It is ture it is a long journey we have to endure politically and socially. It also shows that we are still discriminated against even with in the "alternative lifestyle" community. We all know what our gift can do for us it is that it will just take a while for "society" to accept that we are a "Little ahead of the curve!"
Keep the faith, girls!

Those numbers are certainly amazing.

Fortunately here in NY, more and more restaurants and bars have unisex bathrooms set up in lieu of standard walk-in mens and ladies rooms. The upside is that one can use these facilities without any worry.

The drawback of couse is that they are single occupancy, so you're often waiting in line to use the restroom.

Actually, the Brazilians referred to are probably the travesti who are in fact typically homosexual. They're usually a bit more than crossdressers, they usually undergo body modifications, such as implants, but rarely transition.

I do believe the public is becoming more aware of trangendered people and some are at lease educateing the public. Opera more then once has had shows on crossdresser and at one time had a lady and her story about going to Canada for her operation. The discovery science channel has had many a story about CD'ers, how far or how little they persue it.
There are so many support groups who push the envelope to try to get people to except us and a few laws have been make to protect us. A lot of cities have a large population of transgendered people, New Orleans being one and I know people don't except you they just put up with you.
Maybe in 50 or 60 years we all will be able to walk the streets with out fear. (--) Carol Ann

Hi Carol Ann,

may be I misunderstand this.
Are you saying there is an opera with a TS-topic? If so, can you post the title (and maybe additional data)?

As you know, gender-bending has been frequent in acting probably since Tuesday before Stone Age and accordingly in opera since its coming into existence about 4 centuries ago.

Hi Xenia,
I'm sorry my post was not fully stated correct. Oprah Winerey Show has had two showes that I know of because I watched them with the wife. One was 3 couples that the husbands were crossdresser, the other was of an air force officer after 20 years of flying and retired went to Cananda and had the operation. Was very tastefull and the only part I really enjoyed was when the women ask Oprah if she whated to go around with a penis.
Great show, all I can tell you is to look it up on the Oprah show passed listings. Hope this helps (--) Carol Ann

Hi Ladies ((G)) .. It looks like the education is getting out there. I recently watched the film "Shrek 2" and Pinoccio was wearing and it was stated and confirmed he was wearing womens underwear and the bar maid at the "The Poison Apple" tavern was a male transexual.
