are you pretty?
Here is a wierd variant on an old question. You are alone, noone else is there to look at you. There is no mirror available to look at yourself (and likewise no pond to look in or so forth) In short no one including yourself can see what you look like.
Are you pretty? Is it even a reasonable question?
Those of us who believe in God can of course put forth the argument that God sees all and thinks we are all beautiful but what are some other thoughts on this matter?
I am thinking of using this as the basis for a short story.

Re: are you pretty?
To me, the question is irrelevant, but for what it's worth I'm ugly, whether male or female. Directly answering your question, no I'm not pretty.Absaroka wrote:You are alone, noone else is there to look at you. When I'm alone, one of the most important things I feel is relief. I'm by myself. No one can hurt me. The universe is fine, people are good generally, but being alone is good. I can recover, at least for a short while.

We are all pretty, beautiful, and gorgeous in our own ways.
Like Virginia said about herself - I, too, am pretty on the inside, and dropdead gorgeous on the outside!

My goodness Virginia and SL, you two almost sound like a married couple!
Two peas in a pod and all that good stuff.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so regardless of how we think we look on the outside, validation on a superficial level can really only come from another person. If our appearance stimulates their visual perception, then our beauty will be validated in their mind (and ours if they tell us). If they see us as plain or ugly (or plain ugly), then that's what we are - TO THEM ONLY! Is that fair? Of course not, but the best thing of all is that it really doesn't matter what they or anyone else thinks. As long as we feel beautiful on the inside, we'll always feel beautiful on the outside regardless what anyone thinks of us. That's a positive self image and no one can take that away from you (unless you let them). Be yourself and be proud of who you are. That's the best thing you can do for yourself. Do that and your beauty will radiate from you and then watch that confidence go WAY up.

Am I pretty? Yes, sure I am!! (But I have to say that I'm also rather vain, so that may be the reason why I said I'm pretty to start with! *LOL*)
Really, personally, a big part of the motivation I have to CD comes with thinking that I can look "good" for my own standards. But... having said that, I'm getting closer and closer to the time in which I know that I will not be able to look good enough, and in turn, that would take away lots of the motivation to CD. (Which has been something going for several years now)
Anyway, yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder... but chances are that if we want to achieve physical beauty as the main objective... we are going to end up being dissapointed. And like I always say... I much more rather being looked at as a "plain jane", normal looking woman than as a ravishing CD.
(My! looks like life is full of contradictions, isn't it?
)
Love,
Gaby

Hi Absaroka,
Love always,
Elizabeth
If I understand this question correctly, it is asking how we see ourselves if we are only able to rely on how we feel about ourselves. The limitations specifically limit the ability to speak of physical beauty. None the less, I never really thought of myself as beautiful, at least in the physical sense. However, It was not until the emergence of Elizabeth and the ability to fully express myself without guilt or shame that I realized I was beautiful. It was kinda like the "ugly duckling", once I became what I was meant to be, it turned out that I was a beautiful person all along. It was just obscured.Absaroka wrote: You are alone, noone else is there to look at you. Elizabeth!!!!
You probably know what I am going to say to you!! I have seen with my own eyes if you will, the seed planted, watered, nurished, some dry spells, but the final emergence of one of the most beautiful ladies I have ever know! You are a sweetheart and you know have a "gardner" (need I say it - Raven!!!) that will make that beautiful person/lady, continue to blossom over and over again and to share that beauty with the world!
My friend!
Love you,
Virginia

Thanks for all the replies. I am thinking of a different twist. This person will live (alone) in a place of great natural beauty. She feels that she belongs there. If it is a beautiful place and she belongs then she too must be beautiful. Or something like that.
