No one was worried about what was #1 when I was born. They just worried about the Japanese and the Germans, and whether dad was coming home or not. Round-about way of saying they didn't have that little competition in the stone age. :)

Hi Carolynn,

The American charts did not exist when I was born but using the British charts the #1 song on my birth day was "Unforgetable" by Nat King Cole.

On my 18th birthday the #1 song on the American charts was "American Woman" by Guess Who and on the British chart "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum. Two of my favorite songs at the time...

Boy do I feel old... :(

I just checked to see what song was #1 on the absolute *best* day of my life so far - -

"You're Beautiful" by James Blunt

Well, the way my girlfriend and I were feeling that day (and still are!), that song is very accurate!!! @@9@@ @@9@@

For you, dear girlfriend: 1kiss

...And I thought it would have been these Billboard number one songs from May 19th, Dec 1st, Dec 15th 1973....

SW -

...and all three of those songs accurately describe the way my CD and I were feeling on the absolute best day of 'our lives' so far - and the way we continue to feel!! @@9@@ *^^* @@9@@

19 May 1973 - "You Are The Sunshine of My Life" by Stevie Wonder
01 Dec 1973 - "Top of The World" by The Carpenters
15 Dec 1973 - "The Most Beautiful Girl in The World" by Charlie Rich

Clarification - - While I love the title to the last song, the lyrics are about a break-up between the guy and his 'most beautiful girl in the world.' [-X That's okay, I know what you were trying to do, SW, and I appreciate it! :P

Love ya, my friend!!

Heard it through the grapevine by Marvelous Marvin Gaye. I just put the album on. Another great song that year was the Stones Jumpin Jack Flash. I remember it playing on a 8 track in the back seat of a Road Runner. I wasn't alone. Sweet ride. 383, four barrel,4.11 posi rear end,red line tires and Hurst 4 speed. Nothing like banging those gears with a Hurst. They don't make em like they used to Lorna. Hugs

Love
Jeannie the old gezzer!
