What Shoes Go with This Dress?

Post by Jaye »

I bought this dress last month on a whim. It's made of very lightweight material and falls to just below the knees. I've never owned anything so nice, and I have no idea what to put with it. If it's warm enough next month, I might wear it to the next Kappa Beta meeting. Your thoughts?

That is a gorgeous dress! I would wear tan sandals, if that was mine. I have a nice pair of tan mules with a high wooden wedge or a pair of espadrilles. I would also wear my brown sequined flip flops for a casual look and I have a very nice brown vintage bag that would look good with it! Don't even get me started on jewellery! :) Oh and definitely a litte cardi in a colour to match one on the dress, one that just reaches the waist and has three quarter length sleeves.

Love,
Curly.

Thanks, Curly! I was sort of leaning towards tan sandals of some sort, but I don't think I have any that are pretty enough for this. That's just what I need, another excuse to run out and buy more shoes!

Cream colored sandles would work as well.

Jaye,

I was looking at this last night and also selected a tan sandal. I meant to post it, but got distracted and never got back to it.

I selected these because of the earth tones of the dress, and also because the dress seemed to need something a bit flashy. Depending on where you wear the dress, I also selected some more casual sandals for perhaps a more casual outting.

Anyway, beautiful dress, I am sure you will look great in it.

Love always,

Hi, Jaye - That is a gorgeous dress, and I, too, would choose tan or cream sandals in a high heel. Personally, I wouldn't wear flip-flops with it - but that's just me. I love to wear high heels - and that dress begs for them!

The purse and cardigan that Curly mentions would really make that dress stand out even more and, like Curly, don't even get me started on the jewelry!!

Elizabeth - OMG, I love the tan sandals!!! That is definitely my style, and I think those would look awesome with Jaye's dress!! For a more casual look, I do like espadrilles or the cork wedge sandals, but with a higher heel - mine are no less than 3 1/2" and up to 4 1/2" - with the soles no more than 1", which really 'dresses up' the wedge sandals.

I think I may have found a suitable pair of shoes. I found these at Payless yesterday. The color is described as "natural", so they're not really tan. I also was hoping to find something with an open toe, so I may go back for something else.

I like those shoes and think they would look absolutely wonderful with that dress. I prefer open toes personally, but I honestly do believe you picked the perfect pair!

Hi, Jaye -

You found the 'perfect' pair of shoes to go with that dress! Natural and tan colored shoes are great - they can be used with many outfits as they are 'neutral'. I, too, prefer open-toed sandals, wedges, and heels!!

Now, Jaye, all you have to do is take a pic of yourself in that outfit and post it in the Gallery!!

OK. Now that you found the shoes, how about a purse? Got something to match?

Jaye, love that dress! However, even though you already have a pair of shoes, and despite the other's suggestions, I would recommend these:

Casual, but also practical!

(Sorry, I can be such a twit, bad sense of humor I'm afraid!)

Seriously, lovely dress and shoes. Seriously.

No, and now I'm searching frantically to find something. I went back to Payless to see if they sold a matching bag. They did, but they're long since out of stock. I thought the shoe was very spring-like, but it apparently came out with their fall/winter line. Their new bags are a riot of bright colors and metallic fabrics. Not a single tan or leather-look bag in the bunch. *Sigh*

Well, there are several Payless shoe stores in Charlotte you could check out. There's also a DSW that carries nice purses.

Jaye - I just saw some purses in that 'natural' color while at J.C. Penney and Sears last week.

Tracy - How did you get a pair of my mother's Army boots, huh? I'm lucky that she didn't have to apply them to my backside more than once - and that was a well-learned lesson!! :P
