I actually have many names I like to use. I'm young, so I still have plenty of time to choose what's my favourite. :)

But I came up with most names, like this one, during the years I liked to play some roleplaying games with my friends. While my friends always liked to use those burly male fighter types, I chose to be the fragile sorceress lady. Of course, my friends always wondered why I always use those female characters.
But I always said, that someone has to, as none of you have the guts to.

Very cool Jadhe, I to also played the female character when I did roleplaying games. One I created for one game got me so involved that I had an artiest do a drawing for me and to this day it hangs on my wall.

Count me in with roleplaying games. :)

I always create female characters or play with the female characters that are already created. :)

When I first started to get involved in the online CD/TG community, I, for fairly obvious reasons, chose names corresponding to my given name: Maria or Marie, corresponding to my first name; and Teresa or Terese corresponding to my middle name. When I started attending support group meetings at Ingersoll Gender Center in Seattle and the facilitators recommended that I use a femme name, the names I'd been satisfied with up to that point just didn't really feel right--in chatrooms and forums they felt adequate, but being in the immediate presence of people who might address me gave me a reason to give the matter more careful consideration.

I started checking out websites that gave attention to the matter of naming children--plenty of ideas there. I remember lists of recently popular names, of celebrity names, and of soap character names. Trendy, but kind of unfulfilling. Then I happened to check a list of names for Shakespearean characters: bingo! Plenty of good names, though some were a bit much. I settled on Celia, the name of a character from As You Like It, for no other reason than that it was simple and pleasant.

Anyway, that's how I chose the one I tend to use these days.

Yours,
Celia

I really like names that aren't too common. Not that there is anything wrong with common names. :)

Celia sounds very lovely, and has enough character for my taste. :)

Sharon was the name of my first girlfriend, back in my high school days. I wanted to pick a name that was easy to remember.

Johnny Carson remains an icon of late-night television, even in retirement.

When I arrived at the point where I wanted the feminine part of me to have more of her own idenity I wanted a girls name that was not shared in any way with a masculin name such as Roberta is with Robert. I came up with two names that I really liked Barbra and Nancy. For awhile I switched back and forth between them but finally decided to stay with Nancy.

Many years after I had taken the name Nancy my mother while reminiscing one day told my wife and I about when she was PG with me she just knew I was going to be a girl, that she wanted a girl and had even bought girl things for me because she just knew I was going to be born a girl. My mother also stated that she had not even thought about a boys name and had decided on the name Nancy.

My mother does not know about the daughter she did have and at times I really wonder if I came out to her what she would do or think?
