And happy 4th to you, too, Pauline, although it isn't a holiday where you are, is it? My customer for today grew up in England, and he said, "Oh, this is Rebellion Day!"

Tonight my ex-girlfriend is coming over, and we'll cook dinner and watch fireworks from the terrace. We can see several cities from here, plus the baseball coliseum.

***------- HAPPY 'INDEPENDENCE DAY' MY FELLOW AMERICANS!! ***-------

Gee, that almost sounds like the beginning of a Presidential speech! :P

Not only are we seeing the fireworks tonight, but this afternoon we watched the Space Shuttle take off from Cape Canaveral - while we were standing in our driveway on the opposite side of the state!! Seeing it in person is even better - and we have several times - but it's still an awesome sight!! :)

Let's also not forget our Veterans and members of our Armed Forces, who are defending us and our country to preserve our many freedoms, which are so easily taken for granted!!

Hug a Veteran!!

Anita's comment about the UK not celebrating July 4th as Independence Day reminded me of my first trip to Canada, back in the summer of 1967. I was taking it all in, when I overheard this exchange between a US citizen and a Canadian. Evidently, it was the American's first time in Canada, too, and he was learning about differences and similarities. His question was:

"Do you have a fourth of July in Canada, too?"

Duh.

Happy fourth (I'm in Hawaii tonight, so it is still 7/4 here)!

A few years ago I was in a town in the central part of Denmark Name: Himmelberet (approximately). on July 4th. The Danes make a big holiday of it in honor of the USA. This little town has a log cabin built of logs from 48 US states. Fireworks go on all over the country.
