New U.S. flight carry-on restrictions
Just in case you missed it on the news, I spent more hours than I care to recall at the airport today and the TSA is quite serious about the "no gels/no liquids" in your carry-on rules.
This included stuff like perfume, deodorant, hair gel, shampoo, sun tan lotion, toothpaste, lipstick, bottles of fine wine and scotch -- all of which I saw folks had to throw away if they couldn't put them in a checked bag. And while it wasn't mentioned in the TSA announcements, I'm pretty sure that breastforms also run the risk not being allowed in the cabin.
FYI, I've heard on another list that anyone with photo ID that doesn't match how they look will be taken aside for additional questioning. While I haven't independently confirmed this, it wouldn't surprise me either -- at least for the next few days.
Again, it's not a problem to travel with these sorts of items -- it's just that they have to be put into checked luggage.
About the only exceptions are baby formula and prescription medicines (although it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring a copy of the original prescription).

It is sad. I heard about this today while I was waiting in the pharmacy. What I dont quite understand is if we have all theese restrictions in place how are people still getting through the system.I heard that they had areested twenty-something people trying to get stuff in to the US that would be used to make bombs. How much sense does this make with all the restrictions on US airlines?I just dont get it.
Also if theese people dont like the US so much why dont they just leave us the heck alone.

Yes, it is bad.
Tonight I will return from San Francsco to Munich - and - via London. I am really curious about delays. I don't mind about increased security inspections. I had trips with El Al - well nothing can go beyond their security checks.
But I am not allowed to take my cell phone with me. So, in case there is a delay in London, I can't even call my SO, who wants to pick me up in Munich. Well, I hope there are no delays...

Why don't we mind our own affairs, don't we have enough problems to address in our own country; and stay out of others business? We have been trying to control this region for 100 years. What are we doing over there? Oil? Compromise is a two way street. Also if theese people dont like the US so much why dont they just leave us the heck alone.

I heard on one of the cable news channels that it was highly recommended that the prescription medications be in their original containers which should include the original labels that have the patient's name on them.Marlena Dahlstrom wrote: About the only exceptions are baby formula and prescription medicines (although it wouldn't be a bad idea to bring a copy of the original prescription).
If I may wander a step or 2 beyond the topic airline restrictions, I would suggest that if anyone transfers prescription medication from the original labelled container, don't discard the original container until after the medications are used up. This was a suggestion of a recently retired police officer friend. If there are ever any questions about medication identity or whether it was legally prescribed, the original labelled container helps greatly.

Rose absolutely compromise is a two way street. I have never fully understood why we went over there except to exert our power and for some type of "revenge" if you will for the 9-11 incident. And yes we do have our own problems here in the US that we need to be handling. I do however agree that we cannot take a backseat stand to terrorism and let them think that what happened on 9-11 is ok.I don't fully understand the war but I do support our troops who are over there giving the absolute sacrafice. Theese guys are there to ensure our safety at home as well as the future generations to come.Bless them all!

We should be thankful that the government of the United Kingdom did its job in stopping a group of potential terrorists from carrying out their mission. Imagine what would happen if they succeeded. It would make Sept. 11th, 2001, look minor compared to the catastrophe that would of happened.
I saw a program in the past on one of the cable channels regarding airport security. El Al airlines, the Israeli airline, is probably the safest airline to fly with the most intensive screening of all luggage and passengers.

Isn't it shame.
What has happened to this world? It takes no energy to be a friend and it takes so much energy out of you to hate. It just keeps getting worse and I don't have the answer to stop it. You might not like someone who you work or live near but you don't have to kill them. It makes no sense. In my mind the earth will win in the end. The universe and our planet have been around forever. There is a natural order that keeps everything in balance. Humans were an experiment to add an unknown quotient into the equation. They were able to think unlike animals who always go with the natural flow. Unfortunately these humans began to think they could control the flow on their own.
There is my mind an analogy of what will happen with this planet. I can use many examples but I will use the most recent. Iraq. The United States goes into Iraq occupies the country and attempts to change the natural flow. It has been tried many times throughout history, in many countries and always fails. Mother Earth will also prevail in her fight against these so called thinking beings. They are destroying the air,the water and the land and eventually will destroy themselves. Mother Earth has been around for millions of years and a few thousand is no problem for her to wait. But she will reclaim what was rightfully hers when we are gone and we will be gone. I think this cycle has repeated itself in the universe over and over and over for billions of years. If you believe in a God. He must be a Jokester God. I can hear him or her now."Lets put some humans on this planet and see how long it takes for them to F--- it up this time! Who wants to but down a bet? I'll give you two to one on 6000years!" Ladies. Go with flow. The trend is your friend! Hugs

Like so many others, I support this country of ours (USA) and have willing put my time in service during the Vietnam conflict. I, too, support our troops; unconditionally. Humankind will be what it is. Maybe some CD'er will step forward to change the world for the better. Our issues of compromise and acceptance are simular to the needs of this world.

Jeannie,
Are you ready to be our new benevolent and compassionate leader? I've just about had it with this "compassionate conservatism".
With warm wishes,
Rose

I always say, "If you want something done right, do it yourself".Remember what Mahatma Ghandi said" If there is something in the world you want to change you must do it yourself"

Moi?
Benevolent, compassionate and conservative? Not this reporter. The only thing I want change is into a new outfit everyday. I just liked that quote. I was on the deck with the gang on Saturday night cooking. It was our monthly GLBT night at Jeannies Place. Our as I like to call it. The Gender Cafe! We had the whole crew there. My gay son,me(looking quite ravishing as usual if I say so myself),Sara who is Bi and Trevor my sons friend and his two Moms. We were eating and a car pulled up and it was the Warden to stop in a minute to pick something up. She had her two girlfriends in the car. I said"OH NO!" The kids said "What's wrong?" I replied "It's Mom and her friends! OMG! A trifecta! Three heterosexual, white, right wing, Conservative Republican women who go to church every freaking Sunday! Quick! Run for your lives! Oh the humanity!"Hugs

Jeannie,
My vote is still for you. Your brand of humanity is better than what we got. And you can keep your "Three heterosexual, white, right wing, Conservative Republican women who go to church every freaking Sunday!" We have enough of those in both male and female version up here already.

PS. What can I say ladies. How many men do you know mark their prostate exam on the refrigerator calendar with a heart and a smiley face! I never said I was perfect! The last time I went for my prostate exam my urologist (Who is very cute!) yelled at me. He said"Once a year is enough! Not every week! ":(
