Dear Abby Column

You know it seems to me that with all this stuff in the paper and more and more on TV about crossdresser you would think that the public would be more accepting of us. It does go to show that more and more CD'er are going public and believe it or not there are laws to protect us also. Now if I could only talk my wife into it.

At the age of 10 (a long time ago) when I was first trying to make sense of this it was Ann Landers, Abby's mom I think, who occaisionally ran columns about transvestism as it was known then which helped me understand what I was. I have always been greatful for that.

I believe that Ann Landers and Abigail VanBuren (Dear Abby) were actually sisters, not mother/daughter. When they both started out writing advice columns many, many years ago they worked for competing newspapers, if memory serves me correctly from an article that I read about them several years ago.
The original Dear Abby was known as Abigail VanBuren - but her real name was actually Pauline Phillips, and the current 'Dear Abby' is Jeanne Phillips, Pauline's daughter.
They say the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. . . !!!
