High School... Were you a loser?

Ahh...halloween. Too bad we don't have it here.

It would be a good excuse to go out in public dressed in some very cute costumes. :)

Darn it! I have to move to USA! :P

Hey I take offense at saying that drinking beer and watching football/hockey makes you an overly Macho guy. I love to watch football and hockey. As for beer I perfer to drink a good ale but yes I like beer as well. I will admit to when watching either football or hockey I will yell and scream at the tv or the people fighting on the ice. Now my mother is just as likely to be yelling at the top of her lungs right along side of me.

Hi Gaven,

Don't take offense (or defense, for that matter!). I'd be lying if I said I don't enjoy the occasional game of football.

27 days to Super Bowl XXXVIII... Yay!

I dont see the attaction to the Super Bowl. What makes it bigger or better than Basketball, Hockey, or (Olympic) Swimming?? I mean I understand that it is a playoff game but there are alot of playoff games. I just dont understand it myself.

Truly, Stephanie. American Football is one of the few sports that actually bore me. I don't mean to sound insulting, as I know most americans are football fanatics. But from from my europian point of view, it could never be as interesting as europian football (or soccer, as some like to call it), or ice hockey. It's nearly as silly as rugby. But once again, this is only what I think, so don't stone me to death. :P

I've never been much of a sports freak. I like to play them myself (the ones where I can't get bruises...I'm all dainty and fragile  ), but I rarely watch sports on TV.

Even with an american view it is boring, at least in hockey or soccer they are always fighting something to win, there are rarely break, that is tough. But football, run, get tackled, stop for 2 minutes, then run again. Personally I find Go much more interesting than sports, it works your mind, how many sports can promise that :P.

Well I like (amercian) Football, soccer (which can be just as boring) baseball (though had to stop playing after little league, I kept getting hit by the baseball), But now the sport I am really into is Nascar, oh you may joke that they are just driving around a circle but remember they are doing that at 150+ MPH (depending on the race restrictions) and the only time they stop is one if there is major car crash, two weather (remember they have no traction on there tires) or three for a pit stop and which case they are trying to stop for the shortest amount time possable. I will say that I am not a fanatic like I have seen some people. I like watching also indy, and other races.

OMG I forgot NASCAR!! NASCAR is great!! but I like the ending more than the starting. The starting 20 lap is great passing and stuff than it calms down and picks at the end. It is one of the great sport. Mind you it can get boring at times, but what does ever get boring.

I still dont understand the super bowl though.

Stephanie,

From my understanding when the NFL started the championships games all had names such it is in collage footbal (cotten bowl, rose bowl etc etc...) So I belive to distigish from the collage and to make it the finaly greatest bowl game the well called it the Super Bowl.

Hi all,

The main reason I, for one, enjoy the occasional game (football, hockey, or soccer) is that it's one of the few times I get to participate in some slight form of male bonding (yes, there is a male in me somewhere...). I don't watch these games on my own. I sort of get "roped into" watching them with a gang (and, yes, there's usually the piquant aroma of testosterone floating around--I won't let that bother me if it's only a few times a year, though).

Like any leisure activity, most organized sports will only make sense and perk up your interest if you're familiar with the "culture" that goes with it and understand the rules and the goals well enough. Same thing for Go (an awesome game, by the way!), chess, car racing, golf, ping-pong, the triathlon, and Trivial Pursuit, etc., etc.

I don't naturally gravitate towards watching games until several of my friends invite me to (and deign to teach me the rules). On my own, my leisure pursuits are more of the "head" variety than the "body" variety (I'm a huge fan--and collector--of board games, both traditional and slightly more exotic). I'm also a crossword puzzle addict, something that certainly doesn't contribute to my remaining physically fit, I must admit...

Marx once said that religion was the opiate of the masses; I think that title has now passed on to organized sports. They're our modern-day "Roman bread-and-circus" pasttime of choice, it seems. I enjoy them regardless. To some extent, anyway.

WOW You play Go that is Awesome!

I have never seen the Super Bowl or many other sporting events, probably because all my friends are "nerds" and we all rather die than miss Tartrate play. I think that is why I dont understand many sports

So far, I think that no "loves" wacthing the Super Bowl but watch it to be "manly" with friends or to have an excuse out of anything that isnt urgent. Correct me if I am wrong

That is okay alot of people have no clue what go is.

It is a game of stratagy that you have to surround territory and capture your opponents stones. The game is played on a grid 19x19 and you place stones on the intersection on the grid. You capture stones by filling all of their liberties (liberties are the intersects adjacent to the stone or group). As you get stronger then you can start reading moves ahead.

Other then that I cant help very much, I am still VERY weak, but if you have any questions I can try to get answer them.

That game sounds very much like a game I played with my two little cousins few weeks ago. Although I doubt it was the same. It was a game they got for christmas, and they just couldn't stop playing it, and always dragged me and my sisters to play it as well. :)
