TGEA Holiday Formal

Post by SharonRose »

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you all know about TGEA's holiday formal. This year it's going to be Saturday, Dec. 2, Arlington Va. (crystal city) in Northern Virgina. TGEA (The Transgender Education Association of Greater Washington) is the Washington DC area TG/TV/CD support group.

Normally TGEA is by inviation only to regular meetings, however the holiday formal is open to all members of the transgendered community.

I know some of you have been to this event in the past.

For those of you who live in the area (and those interested in traveling), it really is a special evening.

The night is a fun time to dress up in your finest, meet other like-minded TG's, and dance the night away.

The hotel will have rooms at special rates for those who want to spend the night.

It is going to be a buffet dinner, and we hope to have a photographer and DJ as in past years.

Also, there may be a brunch on Sunday following the Gala.

The cost is $55 members and their significant others/$65 nonmembers and their SOs through October 31st, and the prices increase to $65/$75 Nov. 1st.

Look on the TGEA web site www.tgea.net for additional details as plans are being finalized (or send me a private message)

Sincerely,

Sharon Rose
TGEA Membership Director

If at all possible, Virginia and I will be there (we might be moving into a new house that week) and we look forward to meeting you and the wife!

Hugs to you, the wife, and Connor Blake!

I believe Kendra Lynn may be going as well. Perhaps she has not seen this thread yet.

So the TGEA is like an association for transgendered and crossdressing individuals of all walks of life?

Sounds like a nice group of people.

Gracie said she's planning on going. And another member of MHB, Andee, said she plans to as well.

Sent Kendra a PM to see if she's coming.

Whoever gets there first is to save a table for 8, right? Near the dance floor is fine, like Donna suggested, so long as we're not too close to the speakers, because then we wouldn't be able to talk without yelling!

Virginia and I are really excited about going to the Gala - my first CD event and meeting other members from this Forum!!

I think it may be 9 now, if Tammi from the CD.com forum comes.

So what's this thing about? Isn't it like $20 to get in? I hear that they have a DJ and everything. A dance floor? Mmmm... I wonder what kinda speakers that they use... ? Berringer? Fender?

This year the tables are going to be smaller, as we are encouraging people to mix and mingle, rather than camp out in one spot all night. Its more of a cafe type seating arrangement with lots of smaller tables. I'm not sure exactly how many can be seated at one table.

Still, we can try to get one or two adjoining tables.

The TGEA group http://www.tgea.net has a party open to all, not just members, at the end of the year, mostly known as the Holiday Gala. It's supposed to be formal dress (tux/gown). In 2004 they had a drag queen act perform. Last year a trans singer/musician performed. I could tell what's happening this year exactly, since I'm not a member of TGEA.

The cost is $65/75 for dinner and entertainment, or $25 just for the entertainment after the dinner.

I reckon the person providing the entertainment provides the speakers as well.
