Halloween 2006

Post by Alana »

It's just around the corner! What are going to be?

The store where I cashier part-time is having a Halloween costume contest. Haven't totally decided what to go as. Prior to this week I had more or less decided to dress as a pirate (en homme). However, I'm not so sure now.

When I told a GG friend about the contest, said, "I know what you're going as! When I asked what, she said, a woman! I told her, I don't know. To be dressed as a woman for about 5 hours in a very public situation interacting with lots of people I don't know is very scary. Talk about outing myself, even if it is Halloween. It was one thing a couple of years ago in a relatively small, not very public office setting. To use the men's restroom dressed as a woman is also scary; the women's restroom is out of the question. However, her enthusiasm for my dressing en femme for the contest is contagious. I've been thinking more and more about going en femme.

Am currently considering three femme options: a gypsy, a female pirate, and just a modern feminine woman. Am currently leaning towards the modern woman. My friend suggested long blonde hair, a ruffled blouse, a long black skirt with long side slits, sheer black nylons, large dangly earrings. She did however, recommend no heels, with which I agree because I'll be standing for most of the 5 hours. My idea for the feminine look was much the same, but a mini skirt with patterned sheer hose (maybe even a garter belt) and near-flats (slightly chunky heel). She said that would work also. The gypsy woman would be dark haired with a red or purple tiered dress, a peasant blouse, gold and/or beaded earrings, necklace and bracelets, a waist scarf, a hair scarf, and sandals. The femme pirate would be something along the line of a seafaring gypsy, perhaps with a lace-edged eye patch, and the near-flat shoes.

If I wear the mini, I'll have to be very careful how I retrieve things from down low. Can't just bend over like I do normally; too much more to be exposed. However, my friend said she wouldn't mind seeing me bend over. She has been very supportive of my dressing since a came out to her about two years ago.

Em Homme options remain the pirate, and perhaps a gypsy. Used to do them often when I was younger.

Anyway, regardless of what I end up doing, I'd like to hear what my sisters may be planning or actually end up doing. Will keep you posted!

Love to all,

Alana

Alana,
Sounds to me like it could be fun, you can dress enfem if you don't try to hard to pass as a women for real. Remember it's Halloween and people do dress up, go have fun and enjoy yourself. <-->

I can see the gypsy thing working for you Alana.

There will be no dressing at work for me. And more than likely not at home either.

I did dress and go in to work one year back in the 90's. Rode the subway into DC. I didn't even shave my mustache. After passing through security, I then changed at the office before anyone came in.

Saturday, the 28th, there is a Halloween party (members and guests) at the club in Richmond. http://www.fieldensva.com. There's one there tonight (open to the public) also, but my right eye is swollen for some unkown reason, so I won't be going tonight.

Thursday evening at work my eye, just below the eyebrow, started itching, and by 10 pm it was swollen shut. No bug bite or anything. Weird!

I'm going to have to rethink the whole skirt and/or sheer hose idea. Today's shift made me realize that such an outfit probably would not be appropriate. All the kneeling, bending, and heavy lifting removing 50 pound bags of dog food and other heavy stuff from the bottom of the baskets and transferring them to another basket just wouldn't work in a mini and hose. It was a lovely thought for awhile, though. Perhaps, jeans would be more sensible.

Love,

Kind of cheating, but there was a dress I wanted to wear for Halloween, so I asked the hostess if she would set up a costume category for Wildlife. It's a gold dress with wild animals all over it. I don't know if you can see them in this picture.

Anyway, this will be my first time wearing make-up to a Halloween party. Wish me luck!

Jeannie, I don't think I'm going to be able to wear those three-inch heels on Halloween. I'm a wimp when it comes to heels, and two inches is about the best I can do, at least when I have to wear them for hours at a time. Maybe I can bring them along and sneak into them later.

Aileen. Gets some some round toe or peep toe and stay away from the pointed toe pumps. I don't want to hear you wore sneakers and gym socks to the party and changed there! That's like those GGs going to work in the morning! Tough it out Ladies! I can climb a ladder in 3 inch heels. No problemo! When the going gets tough the tough get going! I should of joined the Marines instead of the Coast Guard. I'm a lean, mean fighting machine and a size 9 narrow! Hugs.

Love
Jeannie

I'm going to be at home, handing out treats as a hippy chick, unless my wife and I find something better at a thrift store that meets her approval.

I have a perfect long patchwork print broomstick skirt and a couple of bohemian/peasant blouses that would work, but we will be checking thrift stores for a top that might work a little better.

The main thing was that she didn't want me to wear my 44C breast forms. She wanted me with a totally flat chest, but we compromised on my smaller silicone enhancers that make me a 44A.

The only things that are needed to complete the costume are a long straight wig and a headband. They will probably come from Walmart or some other discount store. I will try to take some pictures and if any turn out, post at least one in the gallery.

Personally I will be disguised as a normal human being. I don't expect anyone to recognize me.

Aileen its a cute outfit. You've got great legs.

Alana I think the idea of a lady pirate would be a lot of fun. It's a costume and en femme all at once and there are probably some pretty interesting lady pirate costumes out there.

Thank you, Absaroka. I don't like wearing a dress that's not a costume to a party, even though I really wanted to wear this dress. I always want to see if I can take one of my dresses and somehow reinterpret it as a costume. I've got a knockout blue dress, and for my next Halloween party I want to add a Devil wig and be the Devil in a Blue Dress.

I vote for the gypsy.

At the airport where I used to work, one airline invited all its employees to dress up every Halloween. THey really spent time on their costumes and stayed dressed all day. The public and all the other airport workers loved it. THe best costumes were the ones that need no explanation--the devil, the nun, the scarecrow. From your description, I think the gypsy outfit is best on all counts. It's clearly a costume; it's comfortable; everybody gets what you are; it's colorful, etc. Dressing en femme looks too "normal "and has comfort issues. The female pirate just doesn't grab me..... WHatever you wear I hope it is a fun day.

Well, last time I wore a Bo Peep outfit and got plenty of laughs. This time I'm going for sexy, though. I don't expect to get many laughs.

I have not made that descion yet. I most likely will not do anything En Femme. I might go as something I went as years ago which was the Raiders playoff hopes. The consistes of me wearing a Raiders jersy with a noose around my neck and white face paint (IE: dead). Considering we are 1 and 5 that looks like our play off hopes.
