What Would I Do if I Were Brave?

How are you dealing with or handling this aspect of your life?

What Would I Do if I Were Brave?

Post by VickiCD »

Hi Ladies.

Recently, I found something very special I wrote 20 years ago, it was a moment when I had to face my fears and I decided the time has come for Vicki to present herself to the world.

Have you ever thought of all the things you would be able to do, if only you were brave enough to try? I have, and I wrote a poem about how I would feel if I were brave.

You can apply this to your life too.

Questions you may have on this are:
*Why is being brave important?
*What are my feelings?
*What should I do about it?

I hope the following will answer those questions.

Being brave or courageous is an important character trait. Often, people will not do things they would like to do, because they are afraid or have self-doubts. It is important to dream of what you really want and then go out and just do it.

What would I do, if I knew that I could not fail?
If I believed, would the wind always fill up my sail?
How far would I go? What could I achieve,
trusting the hero in me?

If I were brave, I’d walk the razor’s edge,
where fools and dreamers dare to tread.
I'd never lose faith, even when losing my way.
What step would I take today, if I were brave?

What if we’re all meant to do what we secretly dream?
What would you ask, if you knew you could have anything?
Like the mighty oak sleeps, in the heart of a seed,
are there miracles in you and me?

If I refuse to listen to the voice of fear,
would the voice of courage whisper in my ear?

Be brave. Don't be held up by fears. Instead, act to achieve your dreams. Become what you want to become, open your wings and fly.

In conclusion

If you are brave or courageous, you can achieve things about which you dream. You feel better about yourself. You have an admirable character.

Love

Thanks Vicki for making this blonde think!
"What would I do, if I knew I could not fail?" That's scary! To me intestinal fortutude comes from experience. It is the ability to make a come back after a failure and to keep coming back as long as it takes to succeed or achieve your goal - then take on the next challenge and there are plenty of them out there as we all know! But to know you could not fail genders up visions of something we know we can do, not going down the "Road not Taken!" True heros were not out to make a name for themselves, most were just ordinary people placed in extraordinary situations and doing extraordinary things! I can only speak for myself, but I would not want to know "I could not fail!" That kind of takes the edge off for me! I want to know that if I give it my best and I fail, its my fault and I am not being controlled by some unseen "power." Kind of like making a deal with the devil! I just like the song, "The Devil Went Down to Georgia." at the end..."devil, just come on back if you ever want to try again, cause I told you once you son of a ......., I'm the best there's ever been!" or the adage: " Failure is NOT an option!"
Think I will write a song; "Ramblin Blonde!"
Love ya.

Hi all,

Thanks, Deborah. :)

This is my bravery, so far this week: I just turned in several pix as Christina to my colleague in charge of producing the "drag pinup" calendar we're doing for another colleague whose ten-year anniversary bash is coming up next month. I agonized over whether or not to participate and then told myself,"to heck with all this pussyfooting around, they're going to find out sooner or later; might as well use this opportunity to its fullest!" (It's only been three days since I turned the photos in and I've already had to start fielding questions. ).

Oh well. As my momma used to say, "brave is as brave does." -wow-

Love,
CJ

Sorry to keep bringing up airplanes again and again, but this thread reminds me of the movie "Iron Eagle" (The first and least trashy of the three). The theory goes that the pilots literally convinced themselves that they could not be shot down, so that they could focus on accomplishing the mission. Sometimes, it works.

Similarly, two famous aviation instructors, John and Martha King, said "How do you avoid mistakes? You get experience. How do you get experience? By making mistakes!"

This also reminds me of a quotation I read from time to time (I hope I can remember it properly): Beware the fury of a patient man.

You don't actually really fail until you quit trying.

Hugs,

I would never hold back, and always challenge myself to move beyond the secure and predictable....

...oh, and I'd ask my friend Cindy to go shopping with me!

to fail?

Post by Ronnie M »

uh, this is a touchy little thing.

FAIL? define the word failure.

lemme see heah now hun 'chile...

how iz I ta 'splain to yas 'bout bein' a fail your?
well? as I see this hun, it stems from where YOU draw that line.

if I said, I am a failure at being a sisyboy coz I do not have the guts to go dressed up out in public,...then yes,..I would be a failure.
my ole-man, told me, growing up, "if ya don't have a pot to pee in that you own and a window you own, to throw it out of, you ain't nobody"

so then by HIS words, "I" AM a failure because I have never owned property nor will I ever.

so hun? what is it YOU call failure?

"I" damn well doubt I could look into your eyes and SEE failure.
I have even money that says since you are woman enough to come here and talk to us strangers,..THAT makes you a winner!

but this is only MY view....do YOU see that same winner that "I" see when you look in your mirror? I bet you DO!!!!!!!!!!!!

YOU GO GIRL!!!
