Hi Dagmar!
We all have to start somewhere and like Confusious say: "A journey of 1000 miles begins with a single step." He said a lot of other things but...... anyway.
Do you subscribe to any "ladies" magazines? These are a good source of information. Vogue, "Cosmo" InStyle all have good ideas on make-up and presentations.
You will find your sisters here are just full of information, so just ask.
Love,
Virginia

For what it's worth, even post-op TS get read at times. It happens.
But in my experience most people are surprisingly unobservant, and most of those who do notice don't care.
And you'll discover that the sky doesn't fall in when you get read.
Of course YMMV....

Thanks for the support. You both made some good points especially about nobody else really caring. What would really be neat would be to visit one of thoe places that do a complete makeover for you just to see what a professional could do with my body and face. Alas there is nothing like that around here. I would really love that.
No I don't subscribe to Cosmo or anything else likt it. I rely on online advice and experimentation. I'll look through one and see about it.

I know the feeling but lately I have been getting second thoughts.
Yesterday, the first day I got my wig in the mail, i put on some makeup and the wig. I didn't go out but I read one message about a CD going to get coffee at a drive thru. That got my mind reeling and I started thinking of ways to 'go out' without going too far.
I will plan it well, even stopping to get gas, just for the thrill of it. I won't speak (I HOPE) to anyone. I sure hope the gas pump takes my card! The next step will be driving during the day and stopping for gas. I'm afraid to stop and go through a drive thru, at least for now.
Maybe someday.

Dagmar, I know there's at least one service in Philly: CD Tips. Don't know if that near where you live, but just in case...

Dagmar you also want to ask yourself why you want to go out en femme. Many Cds do for a lot of reasons but only do it if you want to. THere is not a right or wrong and if you prefer to stay home, which is mostly what I do, that is also fine. There are lots of threads here about successfully going out and lots of support but that is really a function of where various people are at.
If you do go out please keep us posted and I hope it goes well.

Bad makeup, a masculine walk or manerisms will get you read much faster and more often than your man's face will.Dagmar wrote:So far I am to timmid to go out en femme. After that its your voice, then hair. Your actual face doesn't get looked at that much and usually only up close, and up close you'll probably get read.
You'll definatly get read if you need to show ID for something.
