I have a question...

Post by Karren Hutton »

I don't know if I've ever read this before but in what order do you GGirls put your makeup on... For me its:

Foundation
Eye brows
Eye shadow
Eye liner
Mascara
Bluch
Lipstick

Kind of a top down approach.... have tried it other ways but would always get my eye shadow flaking onto my lashes or coving up my eye liner...

Just wonder how the "Professional's" do it?? hehe

then nails and have plenty of time for them to dry
then lipstick

Well, Virginia and I differ in our makeup approaches! This is how I do it, but I'm self-taught and open to new suggestions.

Moisturizer
Concealer (if needed)
Foundation
Blush
Mascara
Eye Liner
Eye Shadow
Lipstick
Perfume

Depending upon my outfit, I may get dressed before applying makeup, especially if it's something that needs to be pulled on over my head. That way my makeup is not getting on my clothes.

Nail polish - Usually applied after I am finished with my makeup and dressing, if I am not already wearing nail polish.

If my date doesn't show up - well, Virginia will have a lot of questions that she will be needing to answer!! [-X #-o :P

Moisturizer
Dermablend
Blush
Powder
Eyeshadow/liner
Mascara
Lip liner
Lipstick/gloss
Perfume

The blush before powder tirck is something I picked up reading Kevyn Aucoin's "Making Faces". It makes the color look more natural, more like it's part of your face, rather than something applied over it.

I like SL am self-taught so always open to suggestions. I always say Elayne is better at this than I am.

Moisturizer
Foundation--not something I use all the time though
Powder--In the spring to tone down th sunburn
Blush
Eyeshadow
liner
masacara

I do not usually do my eyebrows. I am lucky that they hardly need to be tweezed. I have very little hair on my legs anymore after this last pregnancy =D> =D> *-* Elayne is sooooo jealous.

Well I can already see a trend forming... Except SL... Who seemd to be doing it backwardsish... Sooo.. SL how do you keep your eye shadow from dropping down and sticking onto your mascara? Always had that problem! Plus since I use the self curling mascara, if I did my eye lashes first I could never get the liquid eyeliner on right without smacking onto the curly lashes.. Lol

And for some reason, Terri, when I try the minimalist approach I look like a guy in a dress!! Hehe. Go figure!

Hmmmm. So if I could only get pregnent than I wouldn't have to shave? More likely the stress of takiing care of all those kids has stunted your hair growth!! :)

I always dress first... Make too big a mess pulling things over my head..

Ohhh and if anyone wants to see my transformation videos that I did a while back.. M2F... Message me and I'll tell you where they are.. Don't piblish that link for security reasons...

I've always done my makeup on my own - my mom didn't use much makeup herself, and would not have been of any assistance had I asked.

I rarely get eyeshadow on my mascara, but if I do then I just touch up the mascara. I alternate between a liquid and pencil (soft tip) eyeliner, and have not had problems applying it after the mascara.

However, today I will apply my eyeliner first, then eyeshadow, then mascara - - just to experiment!

I forgot to add the lipstick/gloss then perfume.

My mother did not teach me but my step-mom did, who was a beautician in her early years before my dad. My mother wore make-up until I was born, left Iowa , and bacame a hippie in Vermont.

No order...it changes daily...if I look in the mirror and my lips look pale I put my lippie first. If my skin looks blotchy then foundation goes on first. Sometimes my eyeshadow or eyeliner go on first purely because they are the first thing I see in my makeup box.

Love,
Curly :)

That's interesting, Curly!! Kind of just-in-time makeup... My problem is the I always need everything!! Lol I do love to just mess with my makeup once in a while when I have time.. Try different schemes... Different looks...

Might even do that a lunch today!! The mens room here has a handicaped stall with a sink and a mirror and is separate from the main restroom!! The lighting stinks... Wonder if the comapany will install a lighted makeup mirror if I requested it? That would be the ultimate frindge benifit!! Hehe

Well, we dressed Maria up today and its clear that minimalism is not the crossdresser way!

Maria does:
concealer
foundation
then while the foundation dries I do:
eye liner and maybe false lashes
eyebrows
while the eyeliner dries Marie does:
powder
blush
lipstick
lip liner
finish the eyebrows (because I don't do them quite right)
then I do:
no less than three different eye shadow colors
then Maria does:
more blush
perfume
fake mole
earrings
hair

then the whole what am I going to wear delemma begins.
I'm telling you I'd never make it as a crossdresser, its just soo much work!

That's too funny, Terri!! If I'm not completely dressed with makeup, out the door, on the way to the mall, in 15 minutes then I'm experimenting or sick!! Hehe
