Glue-on Nails ...... Pretty but ........

Post by Karren Hutton »

......... They sure are not for the recreational crossdresser!! Bought some Revlon precolored glue-on nails and used them Tuesday on my business trip to WV... And they went on really nice and looked great... Wore them all night and Wednesday morning went to take them off... Followed the instructions and soaked then in polish remover till they softened and they peeled right off...

But they peeled off from the super glue which was still stuck to my nails!! So I soaked them for a bit and very little of the glue came off... I had applied a clear coat of nail polish before using the glue assuming that the whole mess would cole off easier.... Wrong!!!

So I went to my meeting with this stuff all over my nails and afterwards on the 3 hour drive home I soaked, scraped, scrubbed and filed it off!!! Way way way more trouble than it was worth!! At least for me!!

I'm sticking with the stickon's from now on!!! Anyone else ever have this problem??

I havew had that problem--but have found if you put on a double coat of clear at least 8 hours before, when youo dsoak them afterwards, the glue comes right off--sometimes taking some of the clear--usually only takes me about 15-20 minutes to undo the nails at the end of the night. I soak them for about 2-3 minutes and then pull a little from the side/corner and they peel right off (not the long way--across the nail)

Anyways, that has worked well for me.

Good luck!

I have used the "natural look" glue ons then paint them. That works so far, then instead of taking them off, I take the polish off and trim them back to "short" and they look pretty good. They, for me, stay on for about 5 days then I can usually just pop them off by making a fist. The problem is as has been stated, the glue. Getting it off is a struggle and I don't want to damage my natural nails with some high powered stuff. I also coat my natural nails before I apply the others, but I will have to try the 8 hour, two coat method next time and see how that works.
Of course the best is, if you can let them grow out and you are able to file them to a nice appearance then paint them, but I just don't have that kind of luck as I am always breaking two or three, very disappointing!!!
With our generally bigger hands, that is a dead give away. Danae Doyle said that we should not draw any attention to our hands if we can help it. That is neutral nail polish and no rings if we have large hands. Well mine are not that big but as most of you know, having nicely shaped longer nails, painted can definitely make your fingers look slim and longer. I love to wear rings too so I do!
Stay pretty,

Nails that is ladies. luckily my nails grow well and aren't brittle at all. The right hand comes in handy becuase I can pick with them on acoustic guitar but it wears off the polish.
The left hand is another story. The nails hit the frets before my finger tips do and I sound worse than usual if that's possible. It's a trade off. Life's not perfect. Hugs

Jeannie

PS. It does come in handy when you have people over and you want them to leave. All I have to say is"You want me to take out my guitar and play something?" It clears the place everytime! Sweet!

Just bought some Aleene's Tack-It Over & Over glue at the craft store... Heard it was good for reusing and renewing stickon nails.. Just glued one on here at work for a test... Will let you know how well it works!!
