I just saw a program about great hot dog places around the country on The Travel Channel. One joint I think was in New Jersey deep fried them. They would get hard and crunchy on the outside and some would break open and the customers would ask for a splitter. They sounded great Maria but I would have to double up on my Lipitor to eat one. Before I went on Lipitor my total cholesterol shot up to George W Bush's combined SAT score. 230.

Jeannie, I have never tried a fried hot dog. Just microwaved for about a minute and always with mustard!

The Food Channel has a variety of cooking and culinary shows that are facinating. http://www.foodnetwork.com/

Some of the programs, such as Unwrapped, and The Secret Life of.. feature the history, manufacturing companies, and favorite eating places of chocolate, ribs, hot dogs, etc. that make you hungry in an instant!

PS. There is one show I always watch on monday at 9PM here in CT on The Travel Channel. It's called No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain. He travels the world and usually eats at the places most locals eat. He's a hoot.
My GG friend Tink just got his book "Kitchen Confidential" where he exposes what's really going on in kitchens. He was a chef and still is after 30 years. People who have read his book never go out to eat anymore.

PS Maria. My dad Louie died the same year as Julia child at the the same age of 91 years young. His last meal was broccoli rabe and sausage. I picked him up at his house at usual at 6 am and we went to breakfast. We worked in the shop and my sister Christine was down from Maine and made him broccoli rabe and sausage for lunch.
Our print shop is about 50 yards from the Anderson Boy's club and my Dad learned to swim at 73 and swam 5 days a week at 1pm.. He had his favorite breakfast,worked in the shop he loved ,had his favorite lunch and he went swimming which he also loved and had a massive heart attack and died in the pool. Good for you Louie! I worked with him for 40 years and I miss him very much but he had a very gentle passing. We should all be so lucky Maria. He was even good to me in his passing. I would of hated to put him in a nursing home and he spared me that. The greatest generation.The last of a dying breed.
I couldn't ever come out until he was gone Maria. I don't know if he would of understood and I could never have him go to his grave feeling uncomfortable or let down by his son.
