I tend to wear silver or white gold jewelry. It better matches my complexion and goes better with my style of clothing.

Earings soon!
A few weeks ago I mentioned to my wife I wanted to get my ears pierced. She wasn't too keen on the idea, at least both ears but agreed to only one ear stating she would have to get used to it before she would agree to my second ear being pierced. I figured, well that would be halfway there!
Last week we were in the mall and we were going to get pierced, my wife also wanted another piercing, but Clare's was too busy. We stopped and got the time of a place just down the road from our house. They were open on weekends.
Last weekend,my daughter, step daughter, her boyfriend and my son were home. I mentioned to them, something about us wanting to get our piercing. My wife said something about my wanting both ears done and none of my family even batted an eyelash. My wife questioned their thoughts about both ears and they were all for it!!!!
Yesterday we planned on having them done in the evening. I was on clould nine all day. Last evening I got them both pierced.
I can't wait to find my first pair of earings to wear in 6 weeks!

I've had my pierced earings in for just over a year, and use to twist & fiddle with them all the time. I had taken my studs out for about 3-4 weeks & now have just popped them back in again & now I have just forgotten that they are still there.
I do enjoy them so much

I went to a piercing place, they used a needle, not a gun. The girl here only uses loops, so I have a loop and a small ball on it. You bend the loop, then snap it into the ball. It is a bit bigger than I care, and I have a meeting with some people in a couple of weeks that I am sure will get me some razzing. What kind of earrings did you get?
Anyhow, once they heal (before our convention) I will probably take them out during the day. After work, I'll put some small loops in.
Once en femme, I'm going to get ones that dangle and I can't wait to start looking for some!

So happy I got pierced ...
I had been wearing clip-ons for years and putting up with the limited selection, pain, and so forth. I finally got up the courage to hint to my SO about getting my ears pierced, and not only was she supportive, she set up the appointment as a gift over the holidays!
Of course I was apprehensive about how family, friends, co-workers, etc. would react and my original plan was to take them out during the day after my vacation. Eventually I decided that I would rather give my ears more time to heal properly with the studs in, and after all the worry the reaction I got from others was a total non-event.
My earring collection has grown by leaps and bounds since then. I just can't resist an adorable pair whether I'm wandering through Macy's, Nordstrom's, or some little boutique that has something affordable. At this rate I'm expecting an SO intervention, but so far so good.
(... and yes, I'm a new girl here. I'll be posting an introduction in the relevant forum before long, but this thread just caught my eye.)

I currently have two sets of clip-earrings. My first is a set of gold hoops, purchased from http://www.cliptomania.com/. The second is my custom-made set with gold hearts and tiny multicolored beads. I made these last year at a special hands-on, earring design workshop; held at a Bay Area transgendered meeting.

Ah! With my vote, the clip-ons surged ahead, 51% to 48%.
In my family, we just aren't fond of piercing. Not my mother or my oldest sister, for sure. Oldest sis says when she loses one clip-on, she uses the other one for a Christmas tree ornament. I don't think my youngest sister wears earrings, period, although she's very conscious of her appearance. Hm...have to ask her about that.
Yeah, clip-ons hurt, especially the bigger ones that I like. I have a pair of gold ovals that are rather large. ( Maybe my middle sister did the deed--she likes large earrings, too. )
And other posters are right--the selection is the pits, too. I guess I'll look for converters. I'm not ready to go out and get the ears pierced at this point.

Clip-ons and magnetic studs. I have about 30 pairs of clip-ons from various stores, some I look at now and think "why the hell did I buy these?" I've also got a fairly small collection of magnetic studs in assorted faux gem stones and pearls.
I would love to get my ears pierced but after last time with numerous infections and reactions I'll just stick to what I have.
Hugs & Kisses,
CL
