Survivor for CD's

Post by Dinah »

Hey girls, we’re all contestants on that new reality show, “Survivor for Crossdressers.” Instead of being marooned on a desert island, we’ll be forced to scrape out our meagre existence in a hotel/spa with satin sheets on all the beds, a 24-hour beauty salon and in-room facials and massage. The producers of the show have warned us in stern tones (they’re very strict about this) that the only personal possessions we’re allowed are the basics necessary to sustain life: a few outfits, wig, breast forms, makeup, lingerie, hosiery, shoes and sleepwear – that’s it.

In addition to these basics, we’re each allowed one small “luxury item” to help us get through the arduous ordeal that lies ahead.

My first thought for a luxury item is a heart-shaped locket with a picture of my sweetie, but the producers have rightly ruled that jewelry is a basic. My second choice is a small bottle of Poeme by Lancome to spray (just a tad) on all my nighties – the delicious sensation of falling asleep at night and waking up in the morning wrapped in an aura of subtle fragrance will make the ordeal a little easier to endure. But once again the producers, showing surprising compassion and understanding (I think they secretly dress up), have ruled that perfume is also a basic. I mean, it’s all part of the outfit, right?

So my final answer is: my favorite stuffed bear. What’s your luxury item?

Courage, girls – we’re all in this together!

Hugs,
Dinah

Well, I doubt they'd let us have a computer to connect to the internet, so the next best thing would be my iPod with my favorite tunes, games and videos.

Whew, I'd be sorely tempted to follow Donna's example and bring tunes, but perhaps she'd be a dear and let others borrow her iPod while she's asleep? Pretty please? If I can get a minimum daily dose of music elsewhere then it makes it easier to pick something original: I'm bringing a camera to capture memories of the whole experience! Somehow I doubt they'd consider a full SLR ensemble with studio lighting a "small" personal item, but even a little compact camera would be better than missing the opportunity entirely.

Sorry, Donna and Kimberly, the producers have disallowed the iPod as a luxury item, on the grounds that you can get an awful lot of tech in a “small” item these days. Sure, I would have been happy to bring along my 40GB iPod and its 10,000+ songs, but what they had in mind was a small, low-tech (or no-tech) item, a keepsake-type thing of sentimental value.

I realize that this makes our “Survivor” ordeal even more rugged than what I’ve described above, but that’s reality TV for you. (Come to think of it, we’re giving the phrase “reality TV” a whole new meaning!)

But good news, Kimberly: I spoke to the producers on your behalf and they’re going to make an exception – you can bring all the photographic gear your heart desires and shoot the whole series! (Actually I had an ulterior motive: I’d like some glamorous boudoir shots of myself, with Teddy bear. I hope you’re good at Photoshop!)

Love,
Dinah

Luxury item? Hmmm? Let me think.

Post by Jeannie »

A luxury would be getting the time off to go to the Spa without my kids, their friends,my wife, my Aunt Pearl, the tenants ,my pain in the you know what sister calling me everyday with more stuff to do.The freakin dog across the street just called and he wants a bone. Please! I wish someone would throw me a bone once in a while!
And Donna, being Jeannie the tech girl I have a question for you Hon. What is this iPod thing you speak of? Is it a new kind of vegetable?I love pea pods. Hugs

PS. This is computer tech tip ladies. If something starts going wrong with the computer do what I do. Pull the plug and say"Take that! Who's the boss!" If I lose any information it was probably worthless anyway. I'll make more.

I wonder If I can take my cat along.
If not, I'd probably bring my sketchbook.

This sounds like a fun trip where do I sign up. So for my personal lux. item I am going to have to bring my PSP. It is an essential item for me. It is a music player, movie player and a video game system. As a true geek I could not be with out my music, movies, and games. I would go crazy.

A portable radio so I can keep in touch with what is going on in the world.

I know from personal experience what it is like to be out of touch, away at sea for weeks on end. It was three weeks after Elvis died that I found out about it and four weeks for Richard Nixon's impeachment.
