Check these girls out
When I look at the plight of these people from the Indian subcontinent. I wonder if I should be glad I live here in the west, or feel envy because they are living our dream, almost!

Absaroka, I also wondered about why they castrate teenage boys? Especially since the eunuchs are not accepted by most in the country anymore. They also did not really say what has caused the change in the acceptance of the eunuchs. I would be interesting to know.

Back as late as early 1800's, pre-puberty boys were castrated to preserve their voices and had fine careers in choirs and operas. These "castrati" or "evirati" were still treated as boys, for the most part. The present singers in the Vienna Boys Choir are all pre-puberal boys, but they soon have to drop out as voices change.

BTW, do you know the difference between a steer and an ox?
Hugs,

Not exactly. A steer is a castrated young bull (bullocK) and develops more beef as well as more tender meat. An ox (usually) is a bull castrated after reaching sexual maturity. It becomes placid and heavy, and can be trained as a draft animal. There are some cattle breeds that develop as better draft animals, however, and also called oxen.Lori wrote:a steer is castrated and a ox is a crossbreed
Cattle is the general term for members of the Bovidae family - including musk ox, zebu, and a few other species.
Planning to have steak for dinner tonight.

A quick search on the internet gave me the following reason for my question above.
By the 19th Century it appeared that organized castration was on its way out. In 1857 the slave trade was banned in the Ottoman Empire. And in Egypt, shortly thereafter, both slavery and castration were outlawed. In 1902 the Vatican had banned the use of castrati in all church music. And in 1924 the palace eunuch system was ended in China. Finally, in 1955, eunuchs (and harems) were outlawed in India. And although castrating criminals and undesirables had a brief comeback among the Nazis (not to mention the Ku Klux Klan), this practice too has been abandoned.
Although their use was banned in India in 1955, eunuchs have made a big come back in that nation where they now have their own political party.

Wow! that is dedication to the cause is it not!!
What I read was that "they" had been accused of kidnapping and castrating teenagers but there was/is no proof!
They also stated that India has little if any Drs. who can, will or are trained to perform SRS!
How they are making themselves a "political force" is evidently in numbers!
How many of "us" are in the US!!!??? No one knows, but having attended several "conventions" and just look at the number of "us" that participate in the various forums on the net. And how many of us are still and probably will remain closeted? Estimates seem to range from 6 - 8 percent upto what?, I have seen as high as 15 -18 percent of our population would clinically qualify as a "crossdresser" and does that include pre and or post ops!? or just those that would wear, oh say a pair of panties once a year!?
But to just be castrated for the cause - awesome!

In Scotland a steer is known as a heifer; I have never heard of an ox
I think the eunuch group in USA is bigger than you think. I saw this program on UK television the other week about many such people in the US who have had voluntary carstration but dont have re-assignment surgery.
The program showed a church in New York state ran by one eunuch & his eunuch partner which is dedicated to that group, by all accounts.

I heard many years ago that the statistics for crossdressing in the Uk male population is 10%. But the majority of that figure would never acknowledge it.
In the far east their religions accept forms of crossdressing?
Here in the west the our religions condemns us?
Why should this be?

As a choir boy myself, with friends in the Vienna Boys Choir, this topic is deeply touching. When my voice changed, and I could no longer make such beautiful sounds, and was expected to make the gravely noises of popular music, I was devastated and confused. Although I'd dressed at an early age (my first 'outing' was at ten for Halloween, with my mom's help), after puberty I guess you could say that it went from something just natural and spontaneous to something more serious, a need.Lydia wrote:Back as late as early 1800's, pre-puberty boys were castrated to preserve their voices and had fine careers in choirs and operas. It was later that I realized that as a boy with a beautiful voice, I always felt like a girl...pretty and gentle and sweet. When my voice changed, I missed that pretty girl terribly much!
Thanks for letting me share this tender part of my life!
