My first wig, makeover and picture!
This is an absolutely monumental moment for me girls so I just couldn't not share. I bought my first wig two weeks ago (went into the shop and got fitted publicly!). Then, last week my friend who used to be a Mary Kay consultant did my makeup and gave me a whole bunch of makeup. She dressed me up in a few different outfits (including a corset which I had never tried before and OMG it felt incredible) and took my picture. The one here is my favorite and is with clothes that are my own so I feel more pride about it. I have totally stepped into a new realm with all of this and feel so much more at peace about my dressing.

You're looking great, Colette!! It's great that you have GG friends that will help you, too. Now you'll just have to do more shopping, especially en femme - - you need to show Colette to the public!!

This sounds iike a wonderful experience for you. I'm so glad to hear that you've got support, and that you're feeling good about the way you look. Now it's practice, practice, practice on your own with those makeup skills!
Out of curiosity: how did you approach the subject of your crossdressing with your GG friend originally? Is this someone who has known for a long time, or just a recent confidence?

HI Collette,
I don't want to throw cold water on your new found - you! but take your time, honey! You need to analyse how you feel as you get dressed, who you see when you look in the mirror, how you feel when you get "looked at." There are a lot of places on the crossdresser's continuum and it is not static but you need to find your first comfort level then progress.
I started a thread a while back before my first formal event and asked the question, "What would you do if some asked you to dance?" There is a lot more to that question than is says. Like what if it were a girl that asked you to dance. Did she read you, was she a lesbian and not read you? What do you say to her? If it is a guy, we all know it is a lady's perogative to say no, but what does that say about you? Just some things to think about! Oh, I did get asked to dance by a guy and I accepted. Talk about a big step for this gal!!! There is more to that story, but this is not the place.
Just take you time, let Collette lead you. You will be pleasantly surprised at how well your feminine intuition will serve you!
Keep us posted

Thank you everyone so much for your compliments! I even had the guts to tell my roommate the other day (I know he is accepting of others differences, so it was only a stretch because he has not known before). I told him by just showing him a picture. He said, "Holy s**T, your hot." That was pretty cool.
Maria, I am not a musician. The bass and piano are the instruments of the girl who did my makeup. I tried my hand at bass when I was in middle school but didn't have the discipline to learn it for real.
My dear Virginia you are a mother aren't you.
You're sweet. I get your point but honestly i too much err on the side of caution. Though I walked out the door that night without too much thought, I had thought about it plenty before and was confident in my actions. There are many more things I want to do and am definitely taking it slow.
Kimberly, thanks for asking about how I told. It is fun to share that actually I have told seven or eight female friends now (including the girl that I have been dating). In the case of L, who did my makeup, she was actually told by our close mutual friend. I trust that friend very much. She actually asked L if she would do my makeup. It was okay in her case because she knew both me and L very much and knew there wouldn't be a problem, I just hadn't gotten around to telling her and as far as the makeover is concerned I didn't want to impose. As for all of the other friends that I have told, it has been after getting to know them enough and seeing them demonstrate their acceptance of other people's lifestyles and their love of me. The most recent friend I told just by saying, "I care about you and want you to know me as fully as possible so there is something I have wanted to tell you. I am a crossdresser." That's when she fairly jumped out of her chair and with a wide grin asked if she could do my makeup too. I have gotten really confident in building friendships these last few months and people that are accepting are just coming more and more into my life. I expect it and so I think I draw them to me. I also think it is because I honor it in myself and so I can see that respect and honor in others when its there.
THanks everybody!!!
