I just have to tell you this story.
On July 4, my wife and I went out to breakfast then to the mall to check out some sales. We went into JC Penny where they had a 75% off sale. She picked out several items (actually a lot more than several) and me a blouse.
We went to Macy's next and I didn't find anything I liked that was on sale. My wife knew I wanted a dress and we ended up back at Penny's where I found a 16W Petite! dress. I absolutely love it!.
Later that night my wife and I were talking. She mentioned putting on makeup for me and without pushing, she finally grabbed her own kit and made up my eyes, then my lips. I only wished she would have asked me to get my wig, but I don't think she is ready for that (yet!)...
In the morning I was waiting for her to leave for work so I could get dressed up and had my makeup in the small bathroom, thinking she would leave. I told her it was a hot day and I started up the air. Next thing I know she is in the small bath, closing the window and I hear some rumbling in my makeup kit. That is no longer a secret now!
Baby steps, it is taking a while but they truly work! See my new dress and high heel pictures in the photo gallery!

Your wife is stunning!!! When can we see some pictures of Carla???
Just kidding, but you do look awesome!
I may get dragged off to the wood shed for this, but hell, it's my woodshed!
I know for a fact that I can out dress my "ex" even on my worst day; SL, now that is another story - she sets the bar very, very high, but I love a challenge.
My point is that all things being equal, a lot of "us" can out-dress our SO"s! We don't do it as a competitive impulse, it is just how it is..... I will leave it at that.
I remember the first party I attended. It was a Christmas party at someone's house and there were five GG's there as well as two TG's and about 10 CD's in various phases of presentation. Anyway, they say it ain't braggin' if you can do it. As I was leaving, three of the GG's called me off to the side and said they had been discussing my "look" most of the evening and had finally come up with a description --------- I was ready to find a hole, crawl into it and pull it in after me, I mean total panic, to be exercised by the, if you will, "horse's mouth!?"
Elegant! they said elegant! I went into shock mode, but held my poker face, then one of them added, and I will never forget her exact words, "It's bitches like you that make us have to work so hard to look good!" and they all smiled, helped me on with my coat and I swear, I do not remember the hour drive home!!!
Point is, most of us really work hard at looking like what we admire most - WOMEN! A lot of my sisters here have expressed the fact that you did, that she is just not ready to see Carla in the flesh. I would venture to say, that seeing "us" in our true self will be/would be rather upsetting to a lot of SO's. IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ONCE YOU REACH THAT PLACE THAT - FORGET THE BABY STEPS - YOUR CHALLENGE WILL BE TO CONVINCE HER THAT YOU ARE NOT - YOU ARE NOT - YOU ARE NOT IN COMPETITION WITH HER!!!! Good luck, it is not going to be easy but its worth the effort.
Go forth Woman and BE!

My SO makes it a point to 'remind' me of how ugly I must be as a woman. I know I may not be the best looking, but I do not think for a moment ugly. I really believe (I've been out just a few times, but no ill comments) that I do pass, at least at a glance. The movie theatre was a true test, especially when I went to the concession stand and ordered popcorn. I don't know if they laughed afterwards, but they certainly didn't to my face.YOU ARE NOT - YOU ARE NOT - YOU ARE NOT IN COMPETITION WITH HER!!!!
I take your advice to heart.... If the day comes (and I believe the day will arrive) when she asks to meet Carla, then I will try hard not to make her feel I am competing, which I am not. I just want to look feminine.
As always, I love the support and advice I get here.
Huggs,
Carla

Carla L,
Believe me when I say you are not an ugly women, in fact you are by far a better looking woman then I am. Honey when I slip out (don't tell the wife) I have no problem walking down the streets and going into stores yes sometimes I get that funny look but that comes with the going out.
Now my wife has never said I was an ugly looking women, she said you just don't look like a women, but yet we have been out many a time together in the past. IMHO I believe your wife may just be scared or perhaps a wee bit jealous of how you may look. Don't worry, the day will come when she is going to want to see Carla at her best. Funny, after all these years my wife stills looks me over every time I dress and yes I still get her comments about my attire or makeup.
