On Sunday, I arrived at my destination at 2:00, and went to a motel to check in en femme again. No rooms were ready yet, but the 20-something women at the reception desk seemed to enjoy checking me in with my male name and were very pleasant. I signed the registration with my name/Grace. They took my payment and told me to return in an hour to get my room. When I returned at 3:00, a new receptionist was behind the desk and when she looked up my registration, she stumbled over the double name, and I just said I'm Grace. She corrected the registration, removing my male name.
The eclipse itself was everything I'd hoped for. I'd driven 300 miles in the late 70's to see a total eclipse, only to have a cloud cover the event at the last minute. Although there was a thin layer of high clouds this time, the eclipse was completely visible and awesome.
The next day, I checked out and, feeling confident, went to a hair salon and had my long hair trimmed and styled. I posted a picture in the gallery.
Five restaurants, a hair salon, 1000 miles and two motels later, I'm home and still dressed. What a great weekend!
