I'm glad you made the decision to go on through with it when you saw all the cars. Oh, I'm sure you would have worked up to it another time, but you worked so hard this time!
Going in without a wig is a mixed bag. If I don't dress quite femme enough, it sometimes confuses people as to who I'm trying to be. You had on a full femme outfit though, so people knew you expected to be treated as a woman.
When I'm out, I want be treated with respect, first, and ideally treated as a woman, second. I don't have to pass in order to have those two things happen. It sounds as though you had both things going, to some extent.
I note that you felt like a supermarket was a comfortable place for one of your first outings. I felt that way, too. Even though there can be many people, it felt easier than going shopping at a department store, say.
