Like Mellissa Halloween isn't a big deal over here for the adults. It's only in recent years that the children have picked up on it.

None the less I hope all you girls who are going to be out there celebrating have a superb time.

You think that was scary? A few years ago I bought a copy of the home version of the TV game show "The Weakest Link" -- it actually included a cardboard mask of the mistress of ceremonies Anne Robinson!

I'm sorry if it seems that I'm stealing someone else's idea, but I think I'm going with the hooker idea as well. I've never been out dressed as a woman "character", even back in the days when I was doing drag shows. For some reason, I have this desire to dress trashy, and I know that I can get reasonably trashy clothes for cheap.

I went shopping this morning after work, in search of a replacement pair of boots for work. After stopping at a couple of different stores, and being frustrated by either selection or prices, I went back to my favorite store, Payless. I found a good sturdy pair of black leather boots with two-inch heels, for $29.95. I lucked into a helpful salesgirl. She complimented my choice, and didn't say anything demeaning about me buying womens' boots. Shoe stores don't typically have any hard flooring, so as to not mark the soles. I asked if she had a hard surface I could test-walk on, because I hate loud shoes. She graciously allowed me a quick turn in their storeroom, and I was delighted to find my new choice to be quiet. I decided to buy myself another pair for fun.

Prior to this morning's purchase, all the shoes I've bought recently were open-toed: sandals, slides, thongs, etc. I wanted something with closed toes. I found the cutest boots: black, round toes, lace-up with a Velcro closure up top. They have 3 1/2-inch heels. They didn't have them in my regular size (11), so, for grins and giggles, I tried a pair in size 10. Surprise! They were cut a little big, big enough to fit comfortably. I slipped into them and took a quick turn around the store. Comfy and sexy! I started to get the germ of an idea for Halloween. "Now, those aren't going to be quiet, sir!" said the clerk. "When I wear these," I replied, "they're liable to be the quietest thing I'm wearing." I had fun.

It's a little grainy, because I took the photo with my scanner. A digital camera is another item on my want list, but I usually do okay with the scanner. Let me know what you think.

A tall, blonde GG friend of mine had decided to join our Hooters entourage this Halloween!! I can't wait to see her in Hooter's getup!!

I LOVE it when Halloween lands on a Sunday! 3 nights of costumed fun! Friday, Saturday and Sunday!!

I'll never forget the year I dressed enfemme to work on Halloween. That was the best! I freaked out my boss that year who told me I was hot & he didn't recognize me!

But there are some other ideas I may do for the future :

- Oprah Winfrey (pantsuit & a wig that matches her hairstyle that season LOL)

- Tootie from Facts of Life (catholic school uniform, hair in pigtails, old style roller skates)

- Dare I say Anna Nicole??? (I was going to go total Wayans Bros on this one & make myself white for a night, LOL)

- Geisha (the wig, the robe, white makeup)

And here are some general ideas for anyone stuck for costume ideas...

- (these are more standard) Witches, cats, Playboy Bunnies, french maids, devils, cheerleaders, hookers, Hooters girls (the rest are more original)

- Geisha

- Female celebrities, actresses, musicians, politicians, or otherwise

- TV characters

- Movie characters

- Cartoon characters/Disney characters/Fairy Tale characters/female superheroes

- Video game characters (for all you gamers out there)

Or just be your beautiful femme self!! No matter what you do, just remember: have fun!!

Yikes!! Silly side note...

I'm having another blond day, girls! I can't believe what I just did!

Here's the story - my GG friend is joining me and my CD friends for our Hooters theme this Halloween. Since she doesn't have a Hooters outfit & doesn't know how to work eBay, I went ahead & ordered one for her. Now, what I normally do is that I bid on more than one of the same item, just in case I get outbid when I'm away.

But it has come to pass that I'm the high bidder for BOTH outfits, no one had outbid me in 48 hours, and the auction ends in two days! I only needed one more outfit... oopsie!

Oh well, if I get stuck with both, I should not have too much trouble finding someone else who wants to be a Hooters girl for a day...

I told Lynn, the waitress at the corner restaurant, that she should expect me for breakfast on Saturday morning in that get-up. She hates the colour red.

She doesn't believe I'll do it. But many of the regulars are encouraging enough (they're aware of my plans) that I'll certainly try. I guess it depends how late I turn in on Friday night.

Of course, if it does happen, I'll have my camera close by.
