mens dress shirt

Post by Absaroka »

I posted in what are you wearing today about my winter motif. Initially because I have no long sleeved white femme clothing I wore my one and only long sleeve white mens dress shirt, unbuttoned, over my cami.

I hate the shirt in guy mode. It gets worn to weddings, funerals, and an occaisional gig where they tell me to wear it. I feel absolutely no need to own more than one. Like my one tie.

The shirt felt a lot different worn as part of a femme outfit. True it was unbuttoned entirely, open to the cami and very casual. Wearing it felt kind of nice. I thought of how GG's sometimes wear these things and it can be sexy in a way.

But I wasn't ready for this. Dressing in a mans white button down shirt en femme is still too radical for me. As opposed to bras, stockings, and the like. :-k :-k :-k :-k So I had to take it off and put on the guy gray flannel shirt that goes so well with so many of my femme ensembles. ..rofl..

Well this girl does not like the chest pocket, on men's or women's clothing. I have come across several nice blouses until I pull them off the rack and there is that (to me) stupid looking pocket or pockets and right back they go. I just don't think pockets on blouses are "feminine!"
Just this girl's opinion!

Blouses with flowing sleeves are my preference. I also do not like to looks of the "geek" pocket on dress shirts or dress blouses. The is no functional need for them and they take away from the aestethics of a nice blouse.

The flowing sleeves are nice and I like them. I guess the point of the post was that GG's can make a mans dress shirt work for them in a cute sexy way but I am still not ready to like what I have always thought was an oppresive garment. I was astonished that I even put it on but I did and wore it for about 10 minutes thinking that it felt different this way. But not different enough...........part of me was disappointed in that.

Hi Ladies..

I cannot see the point of male attire when womens clothes feel better and more comfortable.. why dont they (clothes manufactures etc.) just get rid of the male attire all-together??

Some mens clothes are actually getting more comfortable, using softer fabrics and so on which I really like.

This GG has to comment here, because I agree with Andrea. Living here in Florida, for example, you find a lot of shirts with the tropical motif, for both men and women. I prefer to buy the men's because they are generally made of the softer fabric, like Andrea mentioned, and they are also better-made (i.e., guys usually put more stress on the seams, doing 'guy' stuff, so the men's shirts are sewn better). Almost all men's shirts are machine washable - a huge plus in my book. In addition, as the shirts are generally longer than womens, when they are worn open they can 'dress up' a cami, tank top, or a knit top, providing more wardrobe options; they can also be worn tied at the waist over any of these other tops.

The women's shirts/blouses of a tropical motif are almost always 'dry clean only' - and I refuse to buy them.

If they did that, Pauline - I'd be tempted to shoot them! I love my men's shirts for the reasons stated above. I even put up with that dreaded 'breast pocket' on the men's shirts, but most of my tropical shirts do not have that pocket.

That's this GG's 2c worth!

One thing you have to remember is that the fashionistas (or whatever) periodically find masculine attire for women to be attractive, so every so often they will introduce "man-tailored" clothes. Conversely, the only time one really sees "feminine" men's clothing is when someone like Gaultier or Lagerfeld decides that men would look good in skirts or high heels. No one really takes them seriously, and almost no average person can afford their stuff anyway. Given the choice between wearing feminine men's attire or women's clothing, I'll go for the women's almost all the time.

My wife used to like women's blouses with two breast pockets because she could go braless without worrying about "showing" too much.

Back in the 50's I remember the gals wearing men's long sleeve white shirts with jeans. Really looked sexy to me. I no longer have any blouses so my last outing I wore my white tropical long sleeve shirt, cami, bra, thigh highs, panties, light girdle and knee high black boots w/3 in. heels, and men's levis. With a long wig and make up I thought I looked pretty good. Sometimes when you don't have everything you need but gotta dress, you can put together an outfit that works for you. @->->-
